I'm trying to remove the glovebox on my '99 MFL.
Can't seem to remove the LH side vent as per the maint guide, does it remove in a similar way to the centre ones.
Thanks - Rob

The fascia pops off, then there's a screw through from the N/S to remove the unit itself, IIRC.
-
You have to remove the whole thing. Take the side trim off and screws are accessed through there ;)
-
I've taken the screws out - but cant get the vent off! :'(
Do the adjustable vanes have to come out first?
-
IIRC there should be 3 screws and the whole thing should pull out
-
2 screws easily visible, 3rd one right at the bottom, needs a stubby screwdriver
-
I've got 3 screws out from the side of the vent assy, 4 screws from around the edge of the glovebox and 3 bolts from under the airbag flap. It's loose but dosn't want to lift out :'(
I'll have another look later :'(

IIRC you need to remove the air vent before you can see the final screw in the side of the glovebox.
My Pre-facelift didn't have this screw. Took a lot of head scratching to work out why I couldn't get the glove box out of the new car when I transfered the hands free from the old car to the new one......................

The mfl Elite Estate had this hidden screw.

Ok, makes sense - it's chucking it down here today so will have a look tomorrow (hopefully).
Do the vents come out in a similar way to the centre vents?

Nope, the complete assembly pulls out. Look near the bottom on side of vent & you`ll see a tang through a small rectangular cut-out. If vent is tight push the tang in then pull the vent housing out

Sorted, thanks :y
It was really really tight, the reason being that a previous owner (or their offspring more likely) had forced a couple of pound coins into the top of the vent taking up the slack. So, all's well, and I'm £2 better off ;D
