Hi Guys
I am interested in having a quick PM chat with anyone who lives in (or within 15 miles or so) of Aylesbury.
Please let me know if you do, and you'd be happy for me to drop you a PM.

Dont live there, have a friend who owns a Pub there, will be going there in the next day or two during the day if that helps.
Chris.

I'm 8 miles from Aylesbury James, in Thame.
Is that any good. :-\

Lived there from age of 2 to 30. Grew up in Bedgrove, when I first moved out, lived in Elmhurst (after a 3 month stint in Hampden Hall), and first house on one of the nicer roads in Southcourt (are there nice roads in Southcourt ;D).
Its been 11yrs since I moved, but still go back occasionally. Would have to say, no desire to move back though...

I went to Mandeville School and regularly used the Southcourt chippy opposite the park. I was originally from Haddenham, my parents still live there. My sister lives in Aylesbury.

When Nige worked in that chippy (early to mid 90s), it was fantastic. Previous to that, he worked in the Blue Dolphin in Jansel Square. He knew how to fry a chip :y

He knew how to fry a chip :y
and I assume you speak from experience ..... ::) ::) :y :y

I used to work back then, so looked like tunnie (well, maybe more muscular ;D), despite frequenting Nige most lunchtimes ::)
My problem stemmed from the delay (realisation) from when I stopped working, and became a desk jockey, my calorie intake really needed to drop immediately ::)

Yep, know it well. There used to be a motor accessory shop there as well. Might have been before your time. ;) My mate lives just around the corner in Aplin Road. :y

I am not far from Aylesbury - feel free to PM me if I can help.

Next door to what was the sports shop on the end IIRC :y

Not far from The Duck, one of my old meeting places (now closed). I grew up in Cumberland Close - which no point looking up on any mapping site, as all are wrong, including satnavs ;D

First name terms with the staff in the chippy. Impressive. :y Managed it in a pub before now, but never a chippy. :-\

You're obviously not trying hard enough then Kev. ;D

When our local (Railway Tavern) was still open, we had a tab running in the chippy just across the road as well as in the pub.

Slightly off topic, is the Rose and Crown still open on the road from Wendover upto Raf Halton ?
Just wondering if if me and a friend are still band from there or if they have forgotten my face after 28 years ;D ;D
-
Yes Rose and Crown is still open - drove past it on Monday :)

Just one of the many places that I remember and want to visit from my daft days youth :-[
I was down there for 1 stint (6 months) between sept 83 and feb 84 :y :y
Good job they didn't know all of us was 17 or under or we would have been for the high jump when we got back to camp ;D ;D
I honestly believe that the next morning was the worst hangover I have ever had in my life :'(
I think that was the first time and only time I got hammered on Double Diamond ::) :-[ :-[ :-[
I know if the landlord had got his hands on me, I'd have got a good kicking.
Good job I was built like a racing snake in them days ;D
Not much could catch me. Pished or not ;D ;D
Nowdays, if I run, I get whiplash from my t*ts :D :D

Could be worse, ABC was the local brewery, and that was awful stuff. Mind you, you'd never get merry on it, mineral water is stronger...

Agreed, I used to drink Simmonds IPA which was a lot better. Met SWMBO in the Grosvenor (used to be next to the Bulls Head in the Square) at the Monday night Jazz Club. She was born in Waddesdon, and her best friend, (lives near us) lived in Southcourt, and we visit friends in Haddenham, and Waddesdon. :y
