Title: Instant gasket for autobox
Post by: geoffr70 on 27 April 2012, 21:04:17
Hi peeps.

Doing atf on my bros elite on Sunday. I used new gaskets on mine before, but going down the cheapo route this time and cleaning the filter also.

What can be used as instant gasket for the sumps? I seem to remember someone mentioning Loctite **** something or other and Halfords do it? Oh how long does it take to set/dry?

Thanks peeps

An instant gasket is fine to use instead.

Halfords will have the relative loc tite number goo. :y

...prefer a gasket personally, but each to their own needs etc. :)

As above, get the parts from Jpat for this job.

There is a school of thought that high mileage boxes may be better using instant gasket as the mating faces may not be 100%, instant gasket will take up any variation between the sump pan lip and the box better than a flat gasket can.  :y
