Title: 3.2 temp issue .........
Post by: I_want_an_Omega on 28 April 2012, 18:12:35
I've been driving my pals Signum 3.2 V6 over the last few days.

I noticed that the temp never went above 80c. Surely that isn't right as my 3.0 runs upto 95, you can then see the 'stat open and then settles down to 92 or so.

The car seems to run ok, but his MPG over the last 12k or so in the last year has only been 24 mpg. The car is driven fairly sensibly and also does fairly long runs from time to time with little improvement in the economy on an individual journey.

If the display on the dash is correct, then this is a massive 12c difference between our cars - which seems wrong.

I'm thinking it could be a problem with the 'stat but dont want to suggest changing it without a few more opinions etc. The car will be having a water pump change soon as the Vx dealer didn't do it when the cambelt was done - so that would be the ideal time to change it methinks. It's a manual 05 car with 65k on it.

Thanks - Rob

My 3.2L has the same issue, rarely reaches over 80 degrees on the instrument.

What would be the normal temp?

Thanks

Jan

Should sit at 85. Just changed mine, as it was sitting at 80 and varying.

New stat.... fixed! :)
