Title: First central locking, now courtesy light ...
Post by: Grrrrrr on 28 April 2012, 18:59:46
Some weeks ago my central locking gave up the ghost. Last night my courtesy light did the same. Most odd, considering there are 4 bulbs in there (the map reading lights don't work either). Everything else seems fine. Swapped the fuse with another in the fusebox but no change. Oddly the door courtesy lights still work. Clearly something somewhere is shorting out but how do I find out where it is? More importantly, how come only parts of the circuit seem to be affected? All very strange!

Cheers,

J

Check if power is going to light, if not, PCB knackered

Yeah, Kevin has sent me a wiring diagram and I can see it is connecting into there somewhere. Grrrrrr!

Just answered my own question: PCB = printed circuit board.

No issues with the connector at the light? You haven't had cause to remove it recently, to clean sunroof switch maybe? Just thinking may be loose?

No, up until the CL stopped the car's been as good as gold. If it stops chucking it down long enough to reach the car tomorrow I'll get my voltage tester out and randomly poke it in places and hope something triggers a thought.

The circuit board on the central locking control unit is looking more and more likely although is there's a wire going to earth somewhere who can tell?

I hate electrics!
