just watched this on bbc i player and i cannot for the life of me understand what planet these kids come from or for that matter their parents. :o This group are put together in a house and through their stay are given tasks to do by their parents, in this case a nights work at billingsgate fish market most of them failed to carry out the simplest of tasks, and winged and moaned about the cold and really didnt want to work. it allso shows the parents pampering their every whim, what a way to bring your kids up only now for them its to late as most of them are between 19 and 24 years old.given their weekly food allowance the group spent it on vodka and crisps some diet and bought plastic cat food trays so no washing up cos yep they dont know how to i have 2 sons my 14 year old does jobs around the house for his pocket money so he has to earn it, my 19 year old son has just got his own flat and is struggling on his 50 quid a week jsa and although we are there in the background for him we have told him he has to do this on his own after all this is what the real world is all about, shame isnt it that these teens in this program have no chance there seems to have been no boundrys set for them and have not been shown what responsobility is and only now are their parents seeing the terrible mistakes they have made

Agree with every word of that! :y

Mrs Opti left home when she was 18. She managed to get a job with the BBC in London and moved into a flat with three other young women (also aged 18 and 19) who were also working at the beeb. They paid £300 per month rent (between them) way back in 1978.
I also moved away from home aged 19. It is not healthy for adult children to still be living at home once they are in their twenties.
They may have to share with friends or shack up with their girlfriend as I did to help with expenses........but that is all part of leading an independent adult life. :y

My son is nearly 24 & although, on paper lives with us, rarely makes an appearance here, he's usually at his mates house, and my (nearly) 23 yr old daughter moved back in with us after uni. Still, could be worse, the lad across the road still lives with his Mum & Dad, he's nearly 40!!! :o :o

I lived at home until fairly recently (2010) but I was saving up for my flat deposit, best way really.

I actually look at it from a slightly different perspective. Are these kids dumb, or very clever. They live off parent/s and don't have to work, they behave more like house guests. So they get everything they want, don't sound to dumb to me. Yes I understand it won't do them any long term good, but show me a young person who is planning for their future.
They are behving much like the baby boomer generation have acted for decades, me me me, now, stuff everyone else. Can you blame them given the role models they have.

Yeah, good point - who are the dumb ones? The parents obviously :P
