did you use black sealant on the half moons and also you should feel a lip of the gasket where it fits over the half moon :y

The gaskets sit in there nicely.... but they will easily fall out.

i was quite liberal with the sealant (not OTT) and then i've heard a tip that you can put a little mirror behind the cam covers to check the half moons are sitting correctly.... i personally didn't do this.... i just felt at the back but you could try it.

also, i wonder what peeps think about putting a tiny bit of sealant in the cam cover corners, under the gasket to hold it in place during installation? just an idea  :)

Easy for the half moons to not seat fully back when refitting, can't see them shifting afterwards. Did you check half moons after fitting? Use black sealant in right places as per the guide?

It's quite hard to judge 8Nm, it's a very small amount. Possible you over squashed it at the back

I suppose if BTC over tightened then the effect would be that the outsides of the cam covers lift up whilst the middle is compact.

Yup, it would squash it out of shape. You only need a pin sized hole for it pish it out at fair old rate.

Yes, should be flush with cam cover, at most sticks out around 1mm.

8Nm is the tiniest amount, it's a lot less than you think.

Easy to do  :y

First time I did it, moons did not seat right. Only spotted after I torqued everything up, taught me to double check!

You can probably re-seat the gaskets rather than buying more - as long as they haven't got caught somewhere and damaged.

Definitely check the gaskets before taking the new ones out the box.....they could be fine and then you can get a refund on the new ones
