warning symbel on dash looks like a cog wheel with a exclamation sign in the middle, I know this is a problem with the auto box switch, but where is this switch located on the car regards (gisajob1)

Have a read of page 138 in the owners manual http://images.omegaowners.com/documents/UserGuides/OmegaOct2002.pdf (http://images.omegaowners.com/documents/UserGuides/OmegaOct2002.pdf)
Sport mode is shown by a cog symbol with an 'S' inside it. Caught me out when I bought my present car.

No mate - his question was answered above - you would have seen if you had read all the thread ;)
Would have thought that if you had a "light" on the first place to check would be the owners handbook - hence my comment - as his question is answered there ::) ::)

sounds most like the brake system light to me....
is the brake fluid topped right up?
if not, can you provide a photo of this light?
-
and can you confirm we are talkling about the lights under the rev counter / speedo area, not the display in the centre console that gives you the time etc?
-
Think OP has a TID and the warning symbol he describes is shown on lower half and is indeed for "automatic gearbox" although no text will be displayed
-
thats what struck me after typing :y
in which case its find a code reader time....to check engine and gearbox, but as a 2.2, could be cam sensor...
cant think of another 2.2 with tid that has had the issue to be sure though.
-
gisajob1, you need to have the codes read to understand what's going on. Cam sensors are quite common failure on 2.2, this can cause other things like the gearbox to report problems when infact they are fine.
TheBoy is based in Brackley (other side of Northampton) He has a code reader, might be worth a trip over to his :y

Plenty of Desmond`s with the MID have ;D ;D
-
yes, but cant recall anyone saying they get automatic gearbox on the mid in relation to a cam sensor issue.
never had a cam sensor issue back when we had a 2.2

Many thanks BIG AL. (gisajob1)
