Haha starting proper tomorrow. Bagpipes out already.
Just watched the vid again and i think after watching it probably 20 times i finally get the timing of the cams ::)
one thing that immediately springs to mind is when you start the car after refitting i'm presuming it's ok to fill it with water.... then once its all ok do a flush and add ya coolant? :)

Not sure what you mean , cant see why your removing any water from system unless i missed something ...unless your replacing the water pump . Not done a cam belt change yet so looking forward to your diy , someone will be along to put you right mate ... :y
When i get some pennies saved i think ill let james change mine while i watch .

Yeah sorry mate. yes, ill be taking off the water pump. although i shan't be replacing it as im not spending any money on ralf (sorry ralf lol) i'd like to have a look at it to see what kinda state its in :y
-
Ps, ill get my old dear to be camera woman tomorrow and post up the pics especially the state of the current timing whatever that maybe ::) :y

My water pump was changed a few weeks back , it had the metal vanes and looked ok but suspect weaping on one of the core's on the back so it was changed .
Yeah ok to flush i would think then top up as normal :y
Yeah was going to say keep the pics coming , maybe one of you dancing ;D :y

So you think it was actually leaking out water? is that common? i thought the main reason for replacement was the pump mechanism seazing and not working properly? didnt think they actually leaked :-\
hahahaha strictly no dancing but i may do the job in my bear suit :D :D :D ;D ;D ;D
the bagpipes come out real easy. just three 10's. couple of connectors and bosh its out. also found the EGR bracket screw i'd dropped down there ;D
-
Dont know if its a common fault but we were eliminating all leaks due to the water loss and overheating issues i had ...all good now though not used a drop , just the float sticking in the tank making the low water light come on >:(
No worries now though just burning too much rubber :P
