Just opened a letter from DVLC containing a new Red V5C & explanation letter. Seems someone has nicked a number of blank blue V5C's so the DVLC are replacing blue with red to reduce the risk of unwary buyers getting a stolen or cloned vehicle? The tealeafs must have got away with a lot of the original V5C's to warrant replacing all of them! :-\

The new form is to be introduced following the theft of an estimated 400000 blue V5C documents in 2006
So yes, quite a few .. and quite a few years ago now! DVLA, swift as ever ;)

News travels slow to the North East? ;) It's been mentioned a couple of times here I think - it's obviously taking the DVLA quite a while to work their way through all the registered cars .. unsurprising, I suppose, if you imagine how many there are :)
