Any corses and qualification I can get out of the system before I tell the DWP to stick the "NI contributions" where the sun don't shine and get back out there working :y :y
Being ex forces, i've already had a word with the Royal British Legion who will try and help me but if you mention "self employed" they go very quite because its seen as a risk.
My answer to that is ................ I'm 46 years old and in the current climate, I ain't got a rather chance of getting a job when 1 in 4 under 21 year olds are out of work and 1 in 10 adults. >:( >:( >:(
Has anybody got any info on any organisations which can help a bloke who has NO credit rating, NO money, and half his tools are knackard ::) :(
Any advise would be appreciated :-* :y
A added bonus would be that I wouldn't be on here so much so if one of you lads would like to start a collection for me :D :D :D

Damnit! I was going to make that joke :P ;D
Although if that's one of the tools that's knackered.... ;)

It's a bit of a long process now, but why not try for your heavy goods licence.
There seems to be plenty of agency work about, even for novices. Your age will work for you, not against you.
Where I work, agency drivers now seem to outnumber us regulars. They're very well though of too.

I'm 53 and just had to change employers and the one thing they are screaming for in the West Midlands is Bus Drivers......
Not the best job or certainly not the best wages but they will put you through the PCV test if you don't already have it and if you keep your nose clean and drive carefully it is really a job for life :y
Might be worth looking at......

May not be the best pay in the world but probably 50% + of our security staff are ex forces. They seem to get a preference here.
I can PM you where I work if you like. Not happy to say it on an open forum.

What is it you want exactly, Mr Gonads?
I thought we were bang on the money (no pun) with our suggestions.
Pretty sure you'd get Government help with re-training for HGV or the bus companies would put you through your PSV.
So, tell us what job you would like, and maybe we could come up with some better ideas.

I've been a sparky in one sort or another since I was 17 years old :y
Sadly, times have moved on a little and to carry on, even though ( not blowing my own trumpet here )I can do the job with my eyes shut, I need to update my qualifications to get back out there doing the job and these cost lots of dosh :(
As most know, i've just gone threw bankruptcy so the banks / finance is a total non starter.
There are some organisations out there who offer training grants / low interest startup loans
but believe me, age does go against you :(

Hope you don't mind me jumping in on this, but I'm ex forces and would be interested in your company too, IF they're local to Bromsgrove??
Cheers, BV :y

Maybe re train for a Green Engineer (Solar etc, Electric and or Water), lots of sparks without the 17th bit seem to be doing this now, and its suppose to be future proof?, would help if you had 'roof awareness' and possible IPAF Licence (Cherry Pickers etc), due to my Radio and Telecoms role, I did IPAF couple of years ago 200 + Vat from memory for a 5 year Licence, Roof Awareness is less than 100, just some thoughts. ;)
Well done on the discharge btw, :y
Chris.

Chris.
Not a great fan of ladders and co tbh but at the end of the day, if it gets me off my arse and away from the "dog walking / driving the missus to work / pot washing / cleaning" that I have had to endure over the last 18 months (ish), i'll do anything :y
The missus had the day off today so she dragged me screaming and kicking into town for a few beers this afternoon :y
Lovely lass :-* :-* :y
On the way to the pub, we dropped into the Insolvency Office to pickup my letter of discharge.
One hell of a good feeling walking out of that place with that letter in my hand ;) :y
Onwards and upwards as the saying goes :y ;D ;D ;D
