Hi , I have a Mreg (95) Omega 2.0 16v gls estate and the indicator switch which also operates the main and dipped beam has finally broke , it was on the way out as it had become worn and the headlamps would keep coming on finally the other day I broke the arm off it , I started to read the haynes manual about how too replace it and seems to be saying that I need to remove the steering wheel and airbag etc to do this , does anyone know if that is necessary for sure ,also has anyone any idea of how much they cost and best place to get one from? any advice much appreciated , Cheers

can change with out doing all that, there is just enough space to get it off but take the battery off as can trip the air bag, dont start to take of for at least 10min, this is for 95 model http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-OMEGA-INDICATOR-SWITCH-STALK-E-394-/160727675638?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item256c1db2f6
newer omegas have a cable fitting.

I think Mr Haynes say the wheel needs to come off, but it is quite easy doing it in place. Remove shroud, then disconnect the electrics at the plug, then you either squeeze tabs, or pull them outboard, & the switch assembly slides out. :y
As said above, disconnect battery, have cuppa, then start job.

No need to remove wheel.
Steering at 90 degreesm remove upper cowling screw, steering at 90 degrees other way, remove other upper cowling screw, and remove upper cowling.
Remove 3 screws holding up lower cowling, and drop slightly.
Release clips holding stalk base, withdraw, and unplug
