Think vented rears on 2.6/3.2 are super expensive compared to 3.0/2.5 non vented which are only around a tenner

But why should the pad be any different? It's just a thicker disc!  ??? ???

According to TC they are.  :-\ Well, the 2.6 and 3.2 are. Didn't look at the others as it was irrelevant.  :y

Just dug up the old thread I was thinking of, looks like the vented ones are not listed on TC, despite them being the same:

Pad set for Vented discs are not on the TC program and trade @ £51.31 + VAT. These pads do also come with the pad pins and springs.

Pads for the Solid discs which are on the trade club program and come out at £12.47 + VAT but do not come with any fittings

What you can do though is use the Solid pads on the Vented Caliper but either re-use the fitting kit or buy new springs and pins

The vented pins are £4.51 each + VAT and the springs are £3.45 each + VAT , so to use the solid pads with a new kit your looking at £37.41 + VAT

I will say that i've only heard of the Solid pads being fitted to the Vented calipers so i can not confirm if this will work so its at your owen risk

Oh and FYI the Vented pads are on back order with GM at the moment

Cheers
Andy

Cheers

At risk of agreeing with you ................  ::) ::) ::)

So do I!

I've replaced the anti-rattle spring that fits at the top recently & just bought them separately.  :y :y

Have a look at the condition of what you already have before you order them. The pin will be OK, it's just the spring that might be broken or ready to break, and you could manage without it till you then order it.  :y

Do you have to have vented discs?

If not then non vented at price AndyC quoted and springs/pins set for £6 at eurocarparts :)

If you already have vented discs then YES you do. Solid discs would physically fit in vented discs calipers, but the vented discs calipers are wider to allow thicker vented discs. All would initially appear OK until the pads wear down a bit, then the rear(?) piston would pop out of the caliper leaking brake fluid all over the place while giving you the feeling of WTF is my brake pedal resting on the carpet?  :o :o :o
Replace vented discs with vented discs unless  you want to replace the caliper too!  :y

That makes perfect sense. Thanks Andy  :y and vented is referring to the vents all the way around the top of the disc i trust (stupid Q but worth checking  ::))

So if the pads are exactly the same and the only difference is the longer pins..... surely the OP could buy the £15 pads and seperately buy the longer pins and new springs from eurocarparts as i remember the guy on the phone said he had both in stock.  :y

Yes. A vented disc is as though you had two slim discs 'stuck' together with a vent in between ie there's a gap between them.
