Cheers

I use a deep 17 and breaker bar on mine :y

Deep socket :y

So worth investing in a deep 17 then. Shame the current Halfords 150 set doesn't include 1/2 deep sockets :-[

its an awesome set but i have had to buy a few extra things including the 17 socket.... also realising it doesnt have a 9mm wrench when ive got the wheel off and just about to brake the bleed valve loose ::) but hey, taught me to check first :y

iirc, it changed a while back.
Steve, I will get a 24" one. 16" will require too much effort! ;D

One of the good things about the Arcan jack, is the top half of the jack handle comes off. It fits neatly over breaker bar handles and socket wrench handles.
Very useful for getting extra leverage on stubborn bolts!

Most of us are man enough not to need it though :P :D

How about one of these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l2736&_nkw=extend+wheel+brace You can get them for bu66er all, certainly cheap enough to buy one for the boot of all your cars. :y :y :y

I have one of those, paid a lot more 20 odd years ago, that said I really need to put it in the Jeep as it has no wheel brace...not that I will ever be changing a wheel on that...... :D :D :D

I had one of those and bent it trying to undo the wheel nuts , they was tight though :-\

I always use an impact socket, after having a bad experience with an ordinary socket.

How tight were the wheel nuts/bolts? ??? ???

Years ago when I had a Senator, I was bending the OE wheel brace trying to undo the wheel bolts after ATS had tightened them. The Senator's wheel brace was a solid bar unlike the hollow crappy thing in the boot of an Omega. Needless to say I 'expressed my concern' when I took the car back to ATS for them to sort! ::) ::) ::)
-
Think mine were welded on ::) Good job i took them all off with a 2ft breaker bar as i would of been stuck trying to replace a wheel at the side of the road beforehand :(
-
I always use the 17mm impact socket from the Halfords kit, along with a very short (like 2 inch) extension and a 24" breaker bar, on wheel nuts.
Having said that, I have had to resort to a hollow 5ft weigh lifting bar a couple of times in the past. It fits nicely over my BB, and makes removing head bolts very easy! :y
I'm glad I found a use for it, because I was never gonna be breaked to lift any weights with it! ;D

If you do use an extension bar, pop an axle stand under it so you're keeping a nice 90 degree angle with the breaker bar - else you'll slip and either round a wheelnut, scratch your wheel, or fall on your backside...
I use a 2ft bar with a swivel head and impact socket, it's just the right depth. I love my tyre garage, there don't use windy guns at all, everything is tightened by hand then nipped properly with a torque wrench, so even the missus can undo them if necessary.

2 types of set - the older ones like my 2, or the newer type like gayboy's.
Immediately obvious to spot the newer type, it has a red container for the screwdriver bits, and an awful lot more screwdriver bits included... ...at the expense of some of the deep sockets.
For wheels, I use:

Airguns are too tedious. Battery impact wrenches are the solution :y

Depends how far away your compressor is ;) I quite like spinning them off with the gun.. but if I'm on the drive I do agree, apart from anything else it takes forever to pull the hose out that far ;D

They are Jamie but i killed the battery on mine and until a new battrey drop into my lap then it will stay in the bottom of the RollCab

Ah, yes, always worth having a spare battery :)

LOL, when I bought this car, I broke a socket trying to undo the fronts.

These are good and I have one, alhough the cheap quality shows in the sockets..... I've rounded my 17" on some particulary tight knuts... :o
