Hi all, An issue that I've been aware of since buying the omega is the noisy tappets. Initially I thought it was just while the engine was cold but even after driving miles n miles with the engine warm, the ticking is there constantly.
Last weekend I changed the oil and filter using 10 40 oil and a FRAM filter (Didnt use an engine flush). I did notice on the service history that the oil and filter were changed less than 4000 miles ago (48000) but this was 2 1/2 years ago. It's now on 52000. So basically changing the oil made no difference, However I did also buy some Wynns hydraulic lifter treatment, and I've travelled over 100 miles since the weekend and I would have expected it to have done something by now. It's not the exhaust blowing anywhere as I have had a good look round that area.
Is it worth stripping the top end down and squeezing the oil out of the lifters..will this make the tapping stop?? Any help would be brill! Cheers, Jim

Multiple tappets? Mine has same issue, although at 139k miles.
Does it tap when cold?
After number of investigations / tests, general thoughts are pressure relief valve. However its a rather major job to strip down to this level, so i've just put up with it. Its not noticable within car, or with window open when driving. All sweet as a nut, only when its very hot at idle is it noticeable.

I've given some stick since adding the treatment If it was gonna do anything it would have done it by now me thinks..

I might be inclined to drop the sump and check the pickup strainer is clear. If that doesn't help, check the oil pressure.

Reading the post again it seems that the oil was last changed 2 1/2 years ago?
If that's the case, definitely worth doing as Kevin says and possibly a couple of short changes
