to pick my motor up after MOT fail for a broken rear road spring. Turned out that, when they went to replace them, they found that the spring was not broken, it had slipped out of it's seating, they re-seated it and issued a new MOT, without charging for re-seating it,free! I just paid for the MOT. Not sure whether that's a plus or not, because I have a fail MOT cert that say's the car is dangerous >:(
They also said the EML light was on in the advisory items, it wasn't before it went in and it's not on now. Still it's got a years MOT pass, now,
Don't like these new cert's not as pretty as the old ones.

Does the EML light ever come on (i.e. with ignition on before starting)? If not that'd be an advisory right now (and a fail next year I think?) ;)

That's right. It goes off as soon as the engine starts.

That's alright then - ignore the advisory ;) :y

On mine, they advised oil missed on rear shocks. Brand new Billy's, no sign.
On hers, rear tow bar not fitted. Aye? It's was a rather Polo! ...with failed bushes I might add. It passed.

What is the likely-hood of a rear road spring unseating it's self ?(OP) Bearing in mind that I'm a pretty sedate drive these days :( Thing is it shook me a bit, in particular, my ability to spot these things. I gave the motor a check over about three weeks ago before going for a weeks holiday in Cornwall, (the week it rained >:(). seemed ok then, came back Monday MOT Thursday. Would have had time to fix anything, before the MOT., me or the garage, that is.
