Title: Which after market suppliers.
Post by: ted_one on 11 May 2012, 19:55:07
I've got a couple of advisories from a recent MOTon my 3.2,these being slight play on the steering idler and front wishbone bushes, and I was wondering wether any members could recommend a decent after market supplier for these items as the budget wont stretch to genuine VX parts at the moment :y

Lemforder from All German Parts

Steering Idler :  http://www.allgermanparts.co.uk/ourshop/prod_1220825-Steering-idler-arm-Original-equipment-Lemforder-14927-01-9195731.html

Wishbone NS : http://www.allgermanparts.co.uk/ourshop/prod_906178-Control-arm-lower-NS-Omega-B-Lemforder-27734-02-90-576-788.html

Not the cheapest .. but they are useless.. nor the most expensive ... but probably about the best value IMHO

I would certainly agree with you're comments,it was just a thought as I find my local VX dealer expensive accompanied with a could'nt give toss attitude and they do'nt keep Omega parts in stock, they've always got to order the items in. >:( I've found a Lemforder steering idler on flea bay for £45 which I think I'll go for and the bushes I'll take a punt on flea bay also if no further advice is offered :y

there is very good advice on here...we take it,or we leave it ,yes there is the auction sites stuff and i must admit it seems the cheaper way to sort out the prob..but it dont happen............its short time junk. be grateful for the expert/longtime advice you have been given
if they tell you go vx then...go there...if they tell you go pattern.. look and compare but listen to the advice you have been given..

idler - Lemforder or GM (get andyc to get trade price on GM :y)

front wishbone bushes - if rear front wishbone bushes are OK, and balljoint is good, poly the fronts, approx £45 delivered.

As TB says. Check the reaward bush in the wishbone is good and not split or separated. Even if it's not metioned in the mot still check carefully, jack up, wheel off, torch in there and look for splits or separation.

As said, if ok, and the ball joint is good, fit polly in place of the failed front bush, job done.
Might need set up. Polly are about £45 for two. :y

I'd swear blind that Andy gave a price, not so long ago, that wasn't much more than Lemforder for a genuine VX one - few quid in it maybe. But I'll be damned if I can find his post, now! >:(
