Yet another cracking good race.
Some good talent in the field this year. It will be interesting to see the outcome of the stewards investigation into Schumacher ramming Senna.
Nice to see a member of the clergy win. :y
-
Another excellent race. Well done Williams, and the vicar :y
-
Great to see a Williams win on Sir Franks 70th birthday. :)
How the break Scumacher can blame Senna...................... the bloke is a complete tossa. ::)
Bloody hell, just seen the fire which broke out in the Williams pit after the race !! :o

Kerrs unit went pop and set light to some fuel :o

Fantastic driver, but Schumacher certainly breaked up there! Then to try and blame Senna, well, that just appears idiotic. Clearly Senna moved, but he's entitled to do so, and Schumacher is hardly able to moan about drivers defending now, is he? !
Schu firmly on other foot I think. ;D

It added a brief moment of excitement to an otherwise fairly dull race...

I went to chomp the grass as soon as the chequered flag dropped. Not sure why I bothered watching, although good to see the one great Williams team have some success.

Not really. He was a dangerous unsporting cheat, who got away with driving illegal cars for years and thus racked up many results he didnt deserve. As a lilfelong motorsport fan - I detest him with a passion.

He was an excellent racer, by far the best of his generation. He had, and still has, what the current crop of fairies all lack, a burning desire to win everything.
Granted, sometimes he was a bit to passionate to win at all costs, but then the other true greats of our lifetime, such as Senna and Prost, and Mansell to a lesser extent, weren't exactly angels ;)

Another good race, great to see Williams on top again. Well deserved win there, car looks good, no rain to help them there, fast in standard conditions. Lets hope for more from them.
Schummi being a complete idiot as usual, how can he blame Senna, then from about 1/2 mile back he just ploughed straight into him? He has talent, but he always been a complete n00b and continues to be.
Put him in a standard car, he turns out to be just a standard driver. His team mate, never world Champion, has consistently our performed him in all aspects.
For too long he got away with everything, nice to see him in trouble. Lets hope he feks off this year!

Shithead Schu still has the desire, thats what makes him interesting. And a great development driver.

Well said Tunnie. It was an open secret in F1 for years that Ferrari were allowed to run a very bent car, which gave him a huge advantage most of the time. For example, they had traction control during the period when it was supposedly banned. He was also allowed to get away with murder (almost literally at times) on the track. Many of the stunts he pulled would have resulted in a very long ban for any other driver, which is why imo his record stands for absolutely nothing.
It started at Benneton - they were cheating in a very clever way.The FIA (and everyone else) knew they had TC,but it was apparently buried too deeply in the computer software for the "brains" at the FIA to find it. Senna told Williams in no uncertain terms that Schumachers car had TC and asked them to protest it.Williams declined because they couldnt prove it.
Once Scummy and most of the technical personnel from Benneton moved to Ferrari the situation changed. Ferrari had been so long without winning anything that they were on the brin k of pulling out of F1. The FIA couldnt allow that to happen.F1 without Ferrari was unthinkable. The only explanation is that they were given a nod and a wink that they would be allowed to run a bent car to get back to the front, which is what subsequently happened..
It almost came undone when Irvines car was protested by Mclaren and found to be outside the rules regarding bodywork/aerodynamics. They should have been thrown out of the championship, but instead were given a slap on the wrist (and probably told to be more careful in future).
All this is motorsports worst kept secret, but no-one dare say it or print it because without 100% proof, they would be sued to oblivion.
Imo Ron Dennis was going to do whatever it took to prove and expose all of this and was then setup to almost destroy his team and drive him out of F1.
Ferrari sold its soul when it let the cheats from Benneton hijack its team, and Scumacher is the most hateful cheating excuse for a sportsman ever to sit his arse in a racing car imo. I have been completely convinced of it for almost 20 years and nothing will ever change my mind about him. Senna,Prost Mansell - all hard as nails, pushed the boundaries, wouldnt give anyone an inch they didnt earn the hard way,but none of them were cynical and dangerous cheats consistently over a period of 10 years.
As you say - he is now in a normal car, built to the rules the same as all the others and he has been shown to average at best.

when you said about traction control the mclarens had it as well and got away with it who was the team who nearly got thrown out of f1 a few years ago ? mclaren thats who ;D ;D and i been watching f1 since the 68
-
Mclaren did not have it as well Ralf. They nearly got thrown out of F1 due to the fact that Alonso tried to blackmail Ron Dennis into giving him number one status over Hamilton. Alonso told Dennis that he had Ferrari design info on his laptop and that other Mclaren employess also had the same info,if he didnt tell Hamilton he was number 2 to Alonso then he would use this info to make trouble for Dennis and Mclaren.Dennis immediately picked up the phone and called Charlie Whiting (chief scrutinerr for F1) and told him exactly what Alonso had said.If Dennis had been in any way a dishonest or cheating type of character he may well have been able to cover the matter up,but he immediately did the right thing and informed the powers that be.Mosley of course saw the chance he had been waiting for all those years and did his best to destroy Dennis and his team. >:(
Im a newcomer Ralf.Been watching regularily since around 1976. ::)

Me too... that's the year I was born! :P ;D
Agree with everything you say though Albs. :y

Ferrari always have it their way, Shumi always has it his way.
Lewis did not have quite enough go go juice to perhaps get all way back to pit, so stopped on track. So they could provide a fuel sample, playing it safe. Result? Demoted to last :o
His P2 session should have been still valid!
Shumi caused a huge accident crashing into the back of Senna at extremely high speed, all down to driver error. Could have caused a serious incident, tyre flying off and hitting someone? Its possible, its happened before.
Just goes to show, that actually the man has no real talent. It was the car & team around him that made him who he was.
Rosberg, who lets be honest was never really considered a good driver, when paired with Shumi, thought he would be in trouble, out classed.
Rosberg has 41 points & is in the hunt for the title.
Schumacher has 2 points.
Think that says a lot about him Ralf, eh? Same car? ::)
He rams people off the road (Barrichello incident) - When things are not going his way, he is very dangerous. Too dangerous.
Sooner that p1ick is out of F1, the better.
-
For too long he got away with everything, nice to see him in trouble. Lets hope he feks off this year!
I take great comfort in the fact that he lost the chance to retire as God and continue to gloat for the rest of his life, but no, he screwed that up and he'll fade away as a complete has-been instead. ;D
-
:y :y :y after all this time, we start agreeing Tunnie. ;D................although I think Rosberg is a very good driver tbh.Potential champion in the right car imo.
His dad was a mighty driver,as brave as they come. His lap of the old silverstone on a track which wasnt completely dry in 1985 was staggering. He averaged over 160mph, a record which stood for about 20 years.
He finished the lap,got out of the car and sparked up a rothmans. How times have changed. ::)
He won the championship in 82 even though he only won one race that year. Cant ever remember it happening before or since, although 82 was a very strange year in F1. Ferrari had actually produced a genuinely quick car for the first time in a few years and Villenueve was expected to win the title. He was killed in Belgium so the expectation then fell on his (treacherous) team mate Pironi. He had the mother of all accidents at Hockenheim which ended his career,so Rosbergs steady run of podiums and single win meant he ended up as champion.
Anarok off now. :D

I give him one more race at Monaco before he is replaced and there are some very capable drivers out there this season :
Grosjean, Di Resta, Maldonado and Hulkenberg :y

Think that Mexican chap will be at the top of the list, already in the Ferrari driver program. Few donations to the Sauber team to let him go, and its job done :y

Hardly 'extremely high speed'. Well, maybe it is for you. But turn 1 is a signifcant braking area.
Maybe, just maybe, he swerved and hit him head on to avoid wheels flying off, knowing it was already too late to avoid collision, and went for the safest option.
We *need* drivers prepared to 'have a go', as its normally as dull as, errr, well this race actually ;)
Did I mention, my bro has driven an F1 car (McLaren) around that circuit? Surprised they managed to squeeze the fat bastard in, but they did. Lucky tinker.

Yeah its a braking area, something Shumi clearly forgot.
He's not "having a go" though, he was miles back. Kobayashi, Vettel, did far, far more impressive over-taking in corners not associated with over-taking.
I think you are confusing "having a go" with just plain bully tactics ;)
This, is having a go...(also from Spain 2012)

He ain't so stupid that he would purposely put himself out (in this specific instance). He clearly thought he had a chance, and went for it, but hit the roadblock caused by the stupid "artifical overtake" rules. Remember, Senna swerved twice, something people seemed to not be picking up on.
Undoubtedly a misjudgement by Shithead Schu, but I praise him for having a go, rather than jumping on the popularist banwagon. He isn't my favourite character, but I admire his determination to improve, even if his current talent/car/package causes that to elude him.
And only he knows how his car handles, when hard on the brakes, maybe he was a passenger himself ;)
-
The distance was too great, he was miles away before going for it. Countless other drivers got a nice drag up the pit straight and did a nice clean overtake into that corner. Rosberg does not appear to have any issues getting the package together.
Its interesting brilliant that the big morons of the grid are both struggling, Massa & Shumi ;D

Clearly you are failing to understand that Senna's tyres were shot to bits, thus having to brake probably 20m early. That to me offers opportunity. However artifical the opportunity is due to pathetic rules. Any hint of opportunity should be fully exploited, else you end up with losers like Button and Tim Henman.
Again, due to the stupid rules, setup is always a compromise.

I would say said 7 times champion fully understood, and tried to exploit, but was left with nowhere to go...
Button is a waste of organic matter. A complete loser. Rich loser, granted.

Rosberg: 41
Shumi: 2
Says it all ;)

Rosberg will never be a World Champion, unless he gets a break like Button did. Unlikely that will happen again anytime soon.
I always rated Webber above Vettel, but results show otherwise.
As an aside, I'd drop the concept of points, and World Champion decided on total races won. Might make the overpaid gays try to win at all costs.

Ohh how for the first time I want a German to win now. ;D
-
Scumacher never has been that good under pressure, racing through traffic etc.He was always much more comfortable taking the lead at the start and gaining an advantage during the pitstops. Was never really much of a hard charging racer, thats a bit of a myth imo. Historically,if hes under pressure to gain or keep a position he drives into people.Ask Damon Hill,Jacques Villenueve ans many many other drivers from the last couple of decades.
As Tunnie says, over the last two seasons young Rosberg has made Scummy look decidedly ordinary.
Not sure how Rosberg ended up as a German. His dad was Finnish when he raced. :-\
Imo Rosberg as a good (possibly very good) driver indeed. You cant tell about people until they get in a really competitive car.So much is about the car these days, hence Vettel was god last year but not so much this year.
Button isnt spectacular or aggressive. He is very much in the same mould as Prost was - uncannily smooth and therefore deceptively quick.Imo he has matured over the last two or three years into an excellent driver. In the top four of the current crop.

Yup & Rosberg was never highly rated either!

I would be the last person to defend Schumacher BUT he still has the desire to win and he has made some excellent getaways on first lap making up positions. That latter feature to me is always an indicator of a good driver- someone who sees opportunities and takes them.
I clearly watched a different race to the one The Boy watched. Dull race? There were some great overtaking manoeuvres and the outcome was never a done deal as in previous years. Want a dull race? then get some beers in for Monaco. My least favourite race of the season. We can only hope for rain.
-
f1 has got boring full stop to many rules and regs :y

Don't worry, he always scathing about F1 because he hates it, and always thinks it's dull unless half a dozen drivers kill themselves in crashes ::)
-
TB always bangs on about how dull it is etc, but for someone who hates it with so much passion he knows a suspiciously large amount about each race.. ;D

Next we will find out that when he says he goes to France on a driving holiday he actually hires a caravan to tow and a transit van and goes with Pikeys :o :o

I did watch this race, which is unusual.
Hate is a strong word. I don't hate it. Its just dull and boring. If this one was an 'exciting' race, then clearly I haven't missed anything in all the ones I have missed.

Nobody likes to see people injured*, but I would like to see more cars driven so hard, they are on the ragged edge. I'd also like to see some proper wheel-to-wheel racing, completely removed with the current artificial overtaking rules.
*Actually, I can think of a handful of people I wouldn't be upset over if they were injured, but none of them drive F1 cars ;D
