Title: Been Globetrotting - Some Pics
Post by: Markie on 06 April 2008, 17:00:05
Dont know where i am or what day it is...

Started the week in Maidenhead before returning north to go errr further North.

Spend two days travelling to one of the most northern points of Scotland - the very Furthest Tip of the Isle of Lewis...10 hours driving from Glasgow and 10 hours in a ferry to assist in a house removal.

Took some intresting pics - albeit from mobile phone....

Hope you like em  :y

I have got friends that moved to Lewis a few years ago. I must go and see them...especially as my mate has recently had a serious road accident and had was taken by helicopter to the main land.

Done that ferry a few times - the calmac one...

This ferry was extraordinarily bad - its the "trade/ truck" ferrythat leaves Ullapool at 3am to get there for 9am..Its old and has no stabilisers - there wasa a few bounces that made me hold my breath i can tell you  ;D

Actually yes...

1115pm dark, snowing and 30 miles outside Inverness......traffic BMW behind a hedge doing speeders  ::) ::)

No where is sacred anymore for some aggressive push on style driving..

Hi Tunnie. It's a 7.5 tonner, drive on a a car licence, or you could when i was you age. Started out on these when i was 19/20 tender yrs. before i was HGV positive. Trouble is despite being RWD they don't drift. If you push 'em they kind of "yomp", lift a rear wheel & bounce around, any more & it's all OVER!!!!!
Now drop the trailer & play about in the tractor unit "Bobtail" & these babies drift like a Cortina on acid!!! (So i'm told) !!:D :D 8-)

Just don't try to handbrake the tinker. Mate of mine tried it with a 7.5 and took all 4 tyres on the rear axle down to the cords.
