I have a 2003 CDX 2.2 dti estate (reg. WP 03 OYM) and thought I had just bought a pair of KYB RX5416P rear springs for it - ebay 320899658175. They arrived yesterday in Quinton Hazell boxes marked as "Type A rear 87-03/94". My invoice showed the part number RX5416P crossed out and QSS2383 written in by hand. Are these suitable for my estate please?
I am overly cautious as last year after the car broke a rear spring the local garage dismissed the spring I had purchased as being incorrect and fitted their "perfectly matching" rear spring. However whilst Wheels in Motion were having to put right the tracking (because of same local garage, from same time) they advised me the new rear spring was not seated correctly and was probably the wrong type. (Garage had redone tracking after I had complained that the car was completely undriveable after they fitted a new track rod end but WIM found it was still way out at 1 deg 17' instead of 0 deg 10', enough to scrub a good pair of front tyres in 1200 miles!).
So opinions welcomed on these QH springs, I need to get it right this time.

KYB part number is OK for your car but the QSS number is for a Carlton estate

Thanks RobG for that. So QSS2383 (which is written on the QH boxes as well as the invoice) springs are OK for a Carlton estate but does that necessarily mean they are wrong for my Omega estate?
Is there anyone in the trade and registered with Klarius who could look at their online QH catalogue for me?
Anyone fitted QH rear springs?

Hmmm.... Tricky one. The listing implies you will get KYB springs (although the image does state that it's for illustration only and not the actual product) yet they've sent QH. I'd be considering returning them anyway as they aren't KYB :-\
Mind you, at least they are a reasonable brand and not a "No-Name" cheapie :y

My thoughts exactly.
Now if I knew they were not suitable it would be easy (in theory anyway) to get my money back.

Update
For some reason I've had much better luck searching on Google this morning and the QH springs (QSS2383) seem to be correct for my estate as well as for a Carlton Mk 3 estate.
As Lazydocker has pointed out QH are a reasonable brand and from what I can see the cost of these springs are normally in the higher range of prices so panic over I think.

Further update.
Rear QH springs fitted and although estate looks level (unloaded) rear is slightly lower than it was before (probably about 2cm).
Yesterday with only light luggage driving along roller-coaster fenland road it was bottoming out which it never used to do along that section of road even with a heavier load.
So, not impressed and I thought I should advise caution to anyone thinking of fitting QH springs or buying (supposedly) KYB springs from that Ebay source.
I will post a new thread to see if anyone can ID my original springs.

The Ebay item number shown at the beginning of the posting is still valid. The seller's Ebay ID was "kerryb4828" and trading as "Car parts and Spares".

According to the "vehicles" tab on this website those springs are correct.
Speaking from experince ('98 2.5 Tourer Estate) I had a hell of a job to get the correct springs. I was sent two sets, 1st set and the car was sitting on the floor, 2nd set ok (possibly similar to yours) until I came to a speed bump and the 3rd and final set (supposedly Heavy Duty Springs) have got the car sitting correctly.

The following, extracted from the listing, certainly implies that the springs are KYB branded;

If you would like to check specific application details, KYB have an online catalogue where you can look up your vehicle and check part numbers, click on http://www.kyb-europe.com/catalogue.asp, or give our sales staff a call!
I would have returned them without question as the springs you actually received were not as stated in the listing (as LD has already said).
In addition, I would contact the vendors to advise them that the springs you received and went to the trouble of fitting are plainly unsuitable and ask them what they intend to do to remedy the situation - based on their response, my next course of action would be to raise a dispute through the usual eBay channels.
The online KYB catalogue shows part number RX 5416 as being suitable for your car.

Yes, that's a good idea Robin as the KYB PDF catalogue shows additional numbers suitable for heavy duty applications;
RXC 6213 (E) and RJ 6213 (MB)
The standard duty reference numbers are RX 5416 (E) and RJ 6228 (MB)
