Hi been a couple of years since I had my CDX but just bought another, I am hoping to replace the rear shocks on my Omega elite 2001,but have noticed Electric wire near the top,I suppose this is self levelling is it possible to use the standard shocks, looking on the internet they are all standard, pity the manual only goes up to 1999 and there is no follow up it seems the old shocks are oil filled so I presume they are all gas now, I need a little help on this matter thanks.

Yep...I have standard shocks on the rear of my Elite....money saving issue at the time BUT now I wish I'd found the money to have the air shocks...ONLY because the ride height tends
to be a bit low with a full load...normal driving..wouldn't know the difference as far as I can tell.

It is not an" electric wire " it is an air feed pipe . one to either side & runs from a rear suspension mounted sensr & a small compressor mounted under front drivers side wing.
Have actually asked the same question as you about changing to std shocks .
General feeling is Elite springs are too soft for std shocks .
see what else comes up from others later :y :y :y :y :y

Looks like I might be getting the vauxhall shocks but not just yet, what info do you have on the club card and is it a yearly one something to consider

Self leveller are also oil filled, like most other shockers, BUT they also have a pneumatic 'bag' at the top for the self levveling bit.
On Trade Club a pair of new shockers is around £150 +vat, which compared to some cars isn't too bad. I'd go for new air assisted shockers. :y

So the self levelling have the two wires at the top? if unplugged does that mean you have standard shocks?

Come on ........ keep up!! They're air lines. And no, if you disconnect them you just have self levelling shockers with no air connection to lift the car. They won't be the same as a 'normal' pair. :y :y

As AndyB says, they are not wires they are air feeds and no ;)
