Came back from Londinium today, to prep the beemer. As I've got some time off, decided to take advantage of the good weather & head to Scotland!
But checking the bike over, discovered a wiring fault to the brake light. The bracket which supported the connectors had snapped, main support for whole assembly had snapped sometime ago, so not too unexpected.
But this was something to be done right & not a tunnie gaffter tape bodge! So had a direct wire up to the brake bulb as a temp fix, also very kind of him to lend me his gas powered soldering iron, in case i need to do some work in field. (literally)
So really big thanks, was going to have to head to BuMW in the morning otherwise, which would have seriously delayed my trip.
Currently packing now! :D

Hey Graham, long time no speak! :)
Yes seen these kind of things before, something I'd like to do, but really would need a group for that, rather than on my own. Trouble is I know any other bikers than OOFers, the short angry man does not do BMW's, but I'd be up for that if anyone else was interested? H21/Daz/others?

You're welcome, but remember it is a short term bodge, and that unit will need replacing on your return.

Sounds like the old tractor engine is shaking the rest of the bike apart. :D ;D

You'd expect as much from a vibey twin. :) ;)

Think it maybe had an impact during its life, perhaps hit or something. Anyway fix worked well. Done 402 miles on it today, new record for me. (on the bike) Feel fine! Currently enjoying a Guinness in a very warm and sunny pub garden few miles away from Loch Lomond :)

402 miles :o :o When I used to ride back in the eighties, I couldn't imagine doing those figures on a GS1000.
Well done you & have a good hol :)

Cheers Pete :y
I was nervous about the miles I had planned, more than double anything I had attempted before. Surprised how easy it went to be honest.
Full ride report when I get back :)

Hope his job is safe. Read yesterday that HP were laying off a lot of staff worldwide.

Now near Spears Bridge, enjoying my 3rd pint of Guiness. Temp hit 31 degrees today! :o
Only 130 miles today, next Applecross.
Luckily free WiFi in the pub, but no mobile signal (Hello Father T if you are reading this!)
