God save the Queen. What a great job She does for the country,86 and still working as hard as ever.Hope everyone is looking forward to the Celebrations,i certainly am.I am putting up all the flags over the weekend and inviting everyone to my house and we will have one big party.
And that will just be a warm up for the football and then the tennis and then the Olympics.i dont know when i am going to get time to go to work but who cares when your enjoying yourself.
Hope everyone has similiar plans to enjoy themselves.

I agree, Lioned. HM does do a great job. :y
However, just wait until the moaners read this thread and start posting the usual whingeing stuff. ::) ::)

I say credit where it is due if you look at the number of engagements she still does and how much people and especially the kids enjoy Her visits.
I know my daughter is a teacher at a local primary school and the place is buzzing about all the celebrations and the Queen was in our town last week and the teachers had to draw lots as to which would be allowed to go.
Plus we get an extra day off to drink as much beer as we can and the Sun is shining.
What is there to moan about ?

As will more than a few of those charged with protecting the celebrants (secular) - in fact, one of the few things likely to keep up the spirits of many of those poor sods will be the anticipated overtime. :-* :-* - I was able to buy a very nice Rolex many years ago thanks to the ‘duties’ performed by some members of her family. Happy days. ;D ;D 8) :y

Somewhat typical of OOF these days, IMHO. Someone (Lioned) is clearly looking forward to enjoying the celebrations but, rather than saying "not my cup of tea, but have a good time, mate" the thread reverts to the usual slagging off. ::) ::) ::)
Enjoy, Lioned! There is little cheer around these days, so I hope you have great summer. I know my kids, especially, are excited by the Jubilee/Olympics etc.
I say, let them be happy!! :y

When will you learn to differentiate between opinions and "slagging off" Nick :-X

Although I have no plans of a big celebration (although I'll probably make an appearance at the party down on the green) I do wish HM all the best as she works very hard and is very good for this country ;) :y

Infantile comments like that were part of the reason this thread was started. http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=103134.0
If you cannot accept other people`s opinions I suggest you keep your fingers off the keyboard

Exactly :y
I have no interest whatsoever in the royal family. But if others do, then that's fine, I can accept that. Those that love the royals should also accept that there are others than don't. I found the comment "to all the people........" to highlight what is wrong with many in society today. The lack of acceptance that others' opinions might differ from theirs. Infantile was exactly the word I'd use to describe it.
For those that are going to celebrate - enjoy. :y Sure it'll be a good party time.
-
Those that don't support our royalty will obviously be ignoring the bank holiday and begging to go to work.

Why? I am not religious either, but when there is a bank holiday for religious beliefs, we all get the day off.
-
Why couldn't I say either : God save the Queen ! :y I bet Prince William will be the next king not his father.

having been a member of the train crew on a few occasions on the royal train before privtisation (BR) ,have meet HM a few times allways very nice to talk to and allways takes the time to thank both the drivers ( yes royal train has two drivers of wich i was once, one of them)and loco inspector at the end of journey.
wont be at any partys though as working that day lol

I found her very nice and polite when I met her in '94 ;) In fact, most of my "Royal encounters" over the last 23 years have been very friendly and polite affairs :y
Royalist or not, it cannot be denied that they work incredibly hard for their position and money

Like the Monarchy or not, consider the alternatives.....
No mark/ has been politician..... President Prescott..... ::)
Celebraty.... President Cowell & First Lady Cheryl.... ;D
Sport... President Beckham... well at least the First Lady would be Posh!! ???
One thing's for sure IMO the Royal's have played their part in making the UK the stable and relatively free and prosperus place that it is!! :y
and if nothing else they provide an excuse for a knees up now and again!!! :y :y :y
God Save The Queen!!!! :y :y :y

OK, you want to work 7 days a week, be constantly under scrutiny, work some very unsocial hours and be under constant security due to the threats/risk against your life? ???
I'm not saying they aren't well rewarded for it though ;) I wouldn't mind it as an income ;D

Slightly edited, but I completely agree with that sentiment. :y
-
Ha Ha Yes I did think about President Bliar!! But if we did away with the monarchy, then The President would have to be elected and I'm not sure the British people could stomach any more of that man.... but then again... :-\ ::)
From the world of business and industry I came up with President Branson... but he'd only do it for the publicity and thus Buckingham Palace would become The Virgin Palace, and we'd have a bank holiday on 'The Presidents birthday sponsored by Virgin Money' etc etc :)
