Title: New Oldie
Post by: diyjoe on 28 May 2012, 03:53:42
Hi I bought myself a brand new Omega Diesel as a 65th birthday present some 16 years ago, as, like me, the car is now looking rather aged on the outside and having not been looked after very well buy a Vauxhall  dealership on the inside the car has been replaced by a younger model. Which one of us will last the longest is a guessing game. To give the car an unfair advantage I intend to have a few jobs like cambelt done at a non dealer ship garage, recommendations welcome in the Rye Area E. Sussex.  I would tackle the job myself but the engine and layout look a bit different to the ford anglia I serviced in my younger days.  There are one or two jobs I do want to do myself like parking sensors, parrot telephone bluetooth (Bluetooth, what have teeth and blue got to do with it? Sorry not supposed to ask questions here) and do the little odd jobs like broken arm rest hinge. So here I am at 3.30 in the morning looking through all the useful topics on this site. Too hot to sleep.

Hello Joe,welcome to the Forum :y

From a fellow senior citizen only 5 yrs your junior
Please let me tell you since Ive had Omega's for the past 7 yrs
Other than a MOT bay and tyre bay my Miggy's have never been in a garage
All Maintenance done by myself within the confines of my car port
I have to say the assistance the  Forum has to hand with the guides is invaluable
And superb support and advice when asked for by the members cannot be emphasised
It gives one the confidece to go ahead with all jobs
Just give it a try :y :y

Hello again Joe.
Just had some thoughts
Why not get a cambelt demo DVD from the shop?
Just click on shop their about 3 quid + postage
And have a go yourself
Alternatively as your location I think is good
I'm sure there will be one of the Forum member/experts near to hand.
Far far better than any garage :y :y
