Quite common on here, seems the sensor goes AWOl, a replacement tank is usually the answer, about £30 IIRC. :y

What he ^^^^ says!  :y :y If you're very lucky, you can put off replacement by removing the bottle/tank & give it a right good clean. A new bottle usually does the trick though ....... & looks nicer!  ;)

Coolant level was fine on mine. If you're going to put a devices in to monitor the cooling system, why make it more fragile than the system it's monitoring? ::)

If you think the Omega's is fragile ....... you've not seen a Senator's or Carlton's  ???. They had the switch in the cap along with a float (that didn't  ::)) and the cap/level sensor was over £30 years ago.

Nope - it lost 2 inches out of tank - only done about 24 miles last 2 days since top up. Pressure test tomorrow - cannot see any leak - no oil in water.

New tanks look a lot better, really make engine bay look better. Like a brand new cruise stalk, it's the small touches that make a difference  :y

An old Carlton or Senator coolant tank cap makes an excellent pressure tester. :y

I cut the off the part that the float slid up and down which left a hole just the right size to fit a Schraeder valve.

An Omega's cap would be far easier to get hold of these days, & you can fit a tyre valve to it.  :y :y

Does the valve need to be with a piece of inner tube and then sealed into the cap ,or can you just use a valve and seal it in front and back with silicone .
