We went to look at a sabb 9-5 it said it had a {noisey timiing chain} and it was ,anyone know any thing about them ? I could get it for £1000 its a 99 with full history and 93000 miles all good apart from chain. any thoughts

Had one as a hire car once - so glad to get back in an Omega it was unbelievable.
Rattly chain - offer less, not sure how difficult, but 9 years old now

why a Saab 95? the power goes to the wrong wheels.
£1k would get you a mint 1999 Omega.

One of the drivers at work adores Saabs, driven nothing else for years. They are very well built cars, also some aeroplanes & every Scania Truck you see on the road (including mine)! All Saab.
Rather keep my Mig but you could do worse. Saabs are tough as old boots!!!!!!!! 8-)

Is not a Saab 9-5 a posh Vauxhall vectra under the skin :-/ :'(

Saab 9000 was tough as they come. Fantastic car and in 2.3 turbo form, bl**dy fast!
Saab 9-5 was nowhere near as good until quite recently.
Early ones had major problems with oil feeds to the top end and the timing chain.
Timing chain replacement is a big job (specialist really, expect £600 bill), and car will also need full clean of oil system (another £100+)
If you want a Saab, get a late 9000, far far superior.

Had a 9-5 last year , i was told the squealing noise was just because it had been sitting on the forecourt for a wee while and that it would go away once it was run for a while !! , it did , the engine blew up 5 days after purchase !! , the squealing was not a chain of belt , but oil starvation from the sump strainer !!!! ............ all i would say is walk away >:( >:( >:(
