Inserted an empty cartridge and it doesn`t eject, no noises heard when button is pressed. Had fascia off and took some pics.
Can someone confirm that the button highlighted in first 2 pics "energises" the eject mechanism

As you can see in this pic, when "eject" is pressed flap opens and makes contact with this button but no ejection. Any ideas :-\

Can't see much but are the lines leading to the switch dammaged(Two lines on the board with something white on them)?
-
The circled bit is the 'Flap open' switch.
The eject is a standard switch under the eject button (other side of board)

Board removal jobbie then :-\

The clips holding the facia to main unit look a bit naff. Just try it again, ensuring the facia connector makes good connection.

All clips are in excellent nick except one on the side that is held with a screw :P ;D

Ah, not easy to tell from pic - it looked like both centre clips were broken...

:) Any ideas then bearing in mind I`ve tried another CDC and that won`t eject either

You'll have to investigate switch then :)
-
Is this the one that was tested with no screen attached, but is paired to one? That might be adding a complication ;)

Certainly is. According to Andy (VXLV6) cartridge should eject when HU is powered up regardless whether display is present or not.
Just the screws holding the board on :-\ :-\

Only point to note is the Head unit may need to be powered up for a minute before you can eject. I know when the units start up the Nav drive does various scans and seeks and you can't eject the disk until this is has completed, the multi changer usually does a scan of the discs in the cartridge IIRC.... this is of course assuming that the CDC3 knows it has a cartridge loaded....

No problem ejecting from nav slot. CDC knows there`s a cartridge in, can hear it scanning for discs, problem being it won`t eject

Is the cartridge ok? the screws tend to loosen on them and they then jam in the mechanism.
There is a method of winding the CDC mechanism to eject the cartridge manually but it's really easy to wind to far and then your in a whole world of pain to try and get the mechanism back!
I still think the issue is that the unit isn't getting a signal from the eject switch.

Tried 2 cartridges.

Knowing a bit of background, when you swapped the cdc3 over, did you have original ncdc vertical board in?
