Dunno about any1 else but for me it has to be the missus!!! :y
-
Other drivers - they just get in the way ;) ;D
-
very good point philbutt, would be so much easier if not lonlier on the road!
-
Chavs with loud music.......
People on the phone..........
Little kids wandering around on the back seat........
Drivers who do not read the road ahead and then under / over react..........
Not in any particular order....... >:( >:( >:(
-
All good points also vamps, for me its still the endless nagging though lol :'( :'(
-
Drivers who are not ready to go when traffic lights turn amber/green. ::)
Auto-wipe windscreen wipers are painful to watch and pot holes make me shout at the road. ::)
As for my wife, I find the faster I go the quieter she gets. :y
-
One thing that annoys me the most when I am driving along is drivers who are tailgating so close to me I can't even see their headlights in my rear view mirror, and people who drive at 30mph in a 60 limit when it is safe to do at least 45 - 50mph then speed up to 40mph when they get into a 30mph stretch, also drivers who come along country lanes with their high beams on whilst half on the wrong side of the road as they are approaching me.
Another thing that also gets on my nerves is middle aged drivers who pull out in front of me when it is my right away such as on roundabouts or at junctions and automatically assume that I am the one that is at fault because I am a young driver, I once had a man threaten to rip my head off when I narrowly avoided rear ending him because he decided to cut me up at a set of red traffic lights and do an emergency stop.

Corsa/Saxo/BMW drivers!
Nuff said! ;D

Agreed, some people just cannot judge distances, and then they go nuts at you for being on the road!!!!!!!
-
people that cannot or do not know how too deal with a round-about
and the worse is when there are say 3-4 cars awaiting to pull onto round-about,round-about is clear and they alll sit stareing at each other......... >:(........ :y
-
My mother-in-law who so wide that impossible to use the gear properly... >:(
-
I would say people who constantly jump lanes on the motorway, and those who don't know how to use a roundabout properly.
Oh and those people who don't say thanks when you let them through.
-
People who don't realise that I'm the best driver in the world and dare to look at me as if it could possibly be my fault. Fools.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
40mph drivers, they do 40 in town, 40 on open road, 40 everywhere!
-
pedestrians that walk behind me when reversing, not just in my car but in my truck as well >:(
-
People not indicating esp the ones in flash 4x4's too busy on the phone >:( >:( >:(
-
Tailgating
People going all the way around a roundabout in the outside lane
People who do below the speed limit when it's perfectly safe to do the normal speed
Middle lane hugging on the motorway
People who say they've never done any form of speeding in their life and hate anyone who dares to go 1 mph over the speed limit
People who act as if they own the road, and they're never in the wrong
Pot Holes
That's just to name a few.
-
Dangerous ditherers are the worst; they pull out of junctions, and halfway through the manouver decide that it isn't safe to continue and so stop in the middle of the road directly in front of the oncoming traffic! Or they join a motorway and at a heady 25.6789564783 MPH are so surprised that the slip road 'suddenly' ends and have to pull out into the inside lane whatever is coming, then they move directly to the outside land and accelerate to 97MPH for the next 213miles.
How about the jokers who manage to indicate exactly the reverse of what the highway code says on roundabouts?
Anyone who brakes hard whenever they see a speed camera, even though they were already driving 7mph below the speed limit. Not to mention when the cameras are average speed ones. These people are clearly proving that they are below average intelligence.
I could go on, but many of the other things that annoy me have already been covered.
-
Lazy indicating p155es me off the most. Coming off the roundabout at the exit before the one I'm waiting at but can't be @rsed to indicate so I know I can pull out. Why would they? It doesn't benefit them. >:(
Shortly followed by the idiots who have no capability whatsoever to judge entry speeds to corners, but are just programmed to brake before every bend, even though they drive at a constant 40 MPH anyway, and the bend is good for at least 60. >:(
Hand held mobile phoners. That blingy BMW/Audi/4x4 tractor POS is bound to have a bluetooth setup, yet you can't be @rsed to sync your gayphone with it so you just use it illegally, and it breaks up your already dodgy driving, but for some reason you seem to have escaped the 3 points and £100 that you're due. >:(
-
Typical Beemer/Merc/Audi driver though. Your not expecting them to know how thier car actually works Kev, surely? :-\
-
Old ppl bug me. They just stop randomly, and they always have budget cars :s oh and ppl who do 40 in a 60 NO NEED, it's 60mph!!! And people who use the 3rd lane on a motorway and sit exactly at 70. Grrrrrrrr
-
People who don't realise that I'm the best driver in the world and dare to look at me as if it could possibly be my fault. Fools.
;D ;D ;D ;D :y :y :y :y
-
people that refuse to use bus lanes when they're allowed to.
-
Just this morning I had a woman almost rear end me then come at the side of me beeping away and shouting abuse at me because she didnt see my indication to pull in at the side of the road where it is perfectly legal to do so, I indicated with plenty of notice and braked gently, now this lane is wide enough for her to have passed me without having to even stray into the other lane, the reason she didnt see my indication? she was too busy looking in her mirror applying her makeup.
-

Yeah, true. As long as it has the toys they can brag about down the pub. None would ever stoop so low as to read the manual and figure out how to use them. ::)

I have plenty of patience for old people. We'll all be in that boat one day, and they simply don't want or need to live at the same pace as the rest of us. I have much more of a problem with more middle-aged people who seem to consider consider their journey in their BMW/Mini/Audi/4x4 that's too big for them to be more important than everyone else's. How urgent can it be to get to a golf club / pretentious gym / appointment to get one of those horrible orange false spray-on suntans anyway? ;)
-
Lmao here, some very good points but at least all these things r outside the car and not bending your ear off beside you. Seriously thinking of gettin a seat on the roof for SWMBO, either that r she goes in the boot, should just about b big enough. :y
I mean who needs driving advice from some1 that takes 20 mins to park an astra badly!?
-
>:( people who indicate to turn right only AFTER the traffic lights change and you're stuck behind the sods while the inside lane passes merrily by -a big hello to all the taxi drivers out there >:(
-
the limit is a limit, not a target, if I want to do 27 or 28 in a 30 for a valid reason, I will. If the gloit behind me doesnt like that and then starts to tailgate me, I'll happily reduce my speed to 15 or slower to compensate for the reduced breaking distance to protect my car as they're obviously shite drivers. If they don't like it, they can hand their license in and sell their car. Simples
-
I've found one major annoyance since getting the Omega. As the automatic gearbox seems to shift up to top gear at 45MPH I keep getting stuck behind traffic that insists on travelling at 44MPH, and it is usual to find a small red car driven by some stupid bint sitting at the front of a long queue of cars behind it.
-
..... they can hand their license in and .....
but you're expected to 'make progress' when & where you can when you're learning to drive. I use a road on my way to & from work that's 30, then 60, then 40 and then back to 30 as it goes between fields & back to housing, it's not uncommon to sit behind some old bint doing 35 from start to finish >:( And then flash you for having the temerity to overtake them!! ??? ???
-
As many have already complained ------poor or no signalling, especially at roundabouts, something I never, ever, forget to do. ::) ::) ::)
-
People who brake from 30 to go past a Gatso in a 40 limit >:(
Middle/outside lane rolling roadblocks really grate. Lorries should be un restricted. That would wake a few people up ::) especially on motorways...
Loud music is perfectly acceptable, provided you've chosen it :y
Kiddies on scooters who think they can outrun a3.2 Omega ::)
People who think that because you're driving a Taxi that you've automatically forgotten the Highway Code and how to apply it ::)

I actually like the little boy racers who think there dressed up corsa/saxo/106/206 is any match for the omega. I find it hilarious to let them get about halfway past then leave them for dust!! :y

It appears that most taxi drivers have ......... ;) ;) ;) ;) eg parking on double yellows outside their rank, or double yellows all the way around roundabouts

As said before, not signalling on round-a-bouts, tailgater's and middle lane hoggers.
Hold on with the criticism of elder drivers :( It will come to us all,................... come to think of it it all ready has for me ::) ::)
-
I'm always in front the s##t driver's i can't stand waiting around! Always make me laugh, in my car after two hours i have a rest reminder flash on dash ;D ;D ;D like i need a rest, can't even get enough. Should have fitted to many million other car's but not mine!!! :)
-
Oh, I forgot the idiots who slow down for the camera gantries in average speed zones on the motorway. Anyone who hasn't got a clue what average means should be on public transport. >:(

;D ;D ;D That's right - the standard of Muppetery exhibited by many of those of plying the roads is really quite concerning.

Ah, lots and lots. But I do try not to get too annoyed on the basis that there is no way I can change these people. They will continue to drive like wallies.
But...last week I was on my way through Luxembourg a huge traffic queue had been created by a broken down British tourist coach. Unfortunately the driver hadn't helped to give the British a good name by not pulling over into the hard shoulder. He just stopped in morning peak hour traffic on the inside lane of a 2 lane motorway. There was a hard shoulder there, but worse, the was also an exit slip road. I cannot think was emergency was so great he felt it necessary to stop on the inside lane. He was stood behind it looking in the engine bay speaking on the phone.
Still cannot figure out what he was thinking when he decided not to use the hard shoulder.

Sometimes good reason for middle land hoggers, lorry's always make line's on inside lane, not having joins all pulled around on my motor and if i'm going 70 + in middle lane i will NOT move to me it's 50-60 inside lane 60-75 middle line and 75-180 outside line, not like you can't over take on outside line.

Yes I do agree with that V6 - difficult to do at times but, in the end, worth trying in an attempt to avoid the inevitable stress of confrontation. :y

It's not. It is lane 1. When you want to overtake, it's lane 2, then lane 3 if you want to pass what is in 2. I realise in the real world, this does not happen, and due to the volume of traffic, almost impossible to adhere to. With the general population thinking about the speed in relation to lanes, this is where a lot of the problems are.

Indeed. Also keeps blood pressure down. I don't want to arrive at my destination all stressed out just because an event I have no control over annoys me. It's taken some years of practise, and sometimes of course I bite. With my "few" years behind the wheel, I realise we are zooming around in what is potentially a lethal machine, and as such should not be taken as a game or competition. There are track days for that.

Ah, but when doing 180 or what ever in the right hand lane, middle lane nodders that refuse to keep left mean others have to move into lane 3 when lane 1 is empty... Right in front of me doing 180... Or whatever.
So then we have the situation where... I can use lane 1 to under take the middle lane nodder, while nodder is being over taken by lane 3. :)
Anyway. One word that's in common for all these posts is... People! There are simply too many people on the roads (in cars obviously ;D ). Did I see somewhere, the uk has the highest concentration of populous v square mile in Europe/anywhere or something?
We all make mistakes, but with that much traffic, fart and someone will cop the outcome. In certain traffic conditions, I find myself just sitting in pockets of empty motorway, mor sitting in the left lane behind a lorry, just to keep away from others.
But yes, biggest irritation, the Mrs! Random comments and distractions to a non multi tasking driver like me. Not good. Easily controlled by the pedal on the right though, to focus the mind of ALL the cars occupants. :-X >:( ;D

It's courtesy to move over once you overtaken the other vehicle & it's the law. I don't agree with all the laws of the highway code, but this one I do :y :y

Not 100% sure, but I had a feeling it was a recommendation rather than law. Don't here about people being fined for driving in the middle lane .... unfortunately. ;)

I believe, and perhaps Broocie will give the definitive answer, that the Highway Code, although not the "law" per se, is seen by the courts as the "guide" and should be obeyed by all. I also believe that whilst there is no specific law regarding lane use, hogging the middle lane in contravention of the HC will get you done for "driving without due care and attention and driving without reasonable consideration on a road or public place." (Section 3 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, as amended by the Road Traffic Act 1991) as described by "Wilkinson 25th Edition"

Have a job to follow me, never seem to be in anyones way to have to move and doing 75 + on middle lane if it was 60 i would feel a fool to stay out there, then i would move yes.

Its offered as part of "Pass Plus" which i did, but its not compulsory. I remember passing in a 1.0 Corsa, the Pass Plus was a different guy who had a 1.4, at the time I thought Oooo the power! ;D

The specific offence Entwood refers to is quite clear;
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/52/section/3/enacted
3
Careless, and inconsiderate, driving
If a person drives a motor vehicle on a road without due care and attention, or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the road, he is guilty of an offence.
The 1991 amendment to this added the following clarifications - but the core value of the offence remains;
2 Careless, and inconsiderate, driving..
For section 3 of the M2Road Traffic Act 1988 there shall be substituted—
“3 Careless, and inconsiderate, driving..
If a person drives a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road or other public place without due care and attention, or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the road or place, he is guilty of an offence.”
It would have to be shown that the actions taken by a driver (in this instance the middle lane hog) amounted to the relevant constituent parts of the definition of the offence being satisfied so, if a Traffic Officer alleged that such driving amounted to such actions and a court subsequently agreed, then the driver is held to have committed the offence.
In many cases however it may be difficult to prove the substantive nature of the offence without some strong evidence gathered over road distance covered, by means of video, the observation of overt acts towards other vehicles and so on; in many cases the thought of having to try the matter in court is instrumental in some officers giving the driver of the car under notice a ballicking, rather than a formal caution with a view to prosecution.
The wording of the offence as stated in (either) Act is quite open and, in being so, invites the need for adjudication by a court in the event of formal proceedings being taken should the accused driver not accept the allegations made by the police or any other person.
-
... Plus. There should be a secondary test before driving on a motorway. IMO.
Abso-rather-lutley chris, I've been saying that for years.
At least they have changed licences a little for the better....once I passed my test I could've been in a 7.5t, or towing a caravan, both on a motorway within 15mins of passing....absolute lunacy IMHO
Rubberneckers.
How many times have you crawled in traffic for half-hour on the motorway to find the accident is on the other carraigeway? and then you get rear ended by some tw*t looking at the accident because you've had to brake because the other tw*t in front is also looking at it!
Should carry the death penalty
-
1. Self righteous wa****** who will not move out of the fast lane because the speed limit is 70. I could be rushing to hospital for an emergency, but they don't care or need to know. they just need to police other road users/force you to undertake. Oh and then when you do eventually get past, they decide to have a go by flashing their lights, how clever.
2. Idiots who pull out to overtake without any idea of the speed of the vehicle coming up behind, then causing said vehicle to have to brake.
3. Middle lane morons. I understand that lane 1 can be poorly surfaced, but unless its past midnight/before 6am/deserted, then move the f*** over. It takes 2 brain cells to understand this and move over. In fact why don't we all just drive in the fast lane, surely then when the surface gets worn out people could get back to driving as prescribed.
Rant over.

There are many things that annoy me about driving, but the one that really grips my tihs is traffic lights, they change to red when there's nothing to go & I'm sat waiting for what seems like eternity for nothing >:( >:( >:( >:(

I mean why do manufacturers think that if I'm spending say £30-50K on a top of the range brand new motor, then I like it having lights that look like some spotty 17 year old has been down to Halfords.... PAH!!! ::)

I swear that a couple of set of lights near me count so many cars through the main road & change to red no matter whether there are cars on the other side of the junction or not ........... ??? ??? ??? (I'm talking very early morning when there are only a hand full of cars on the road)

.....
At least they have changed licences a little for the better......, or towing a caravan, both on a motorway within 15mins of passing....absolute lunacy IMHO .....
You still can, just maybe not quite as big as you used to be able to. ;) ;)
and, in many cases, you now have to use a smaller car to tow it with. Complete nonsense. ::)

Fog/ driving lights that have to be on no matter what the weather
middle lane hoggers who have no idea why they are being flashed at ::)
Just hope I don't follow you one day Rob, because there will be a major fall out ;D ;D
It's courtesy to move over once you overtaken the other vehicle & it's the law. I don't agree with all the laws of the highway code, but this one I do :y :y
Have a job to follow me, never seem to be in anyones way to have to move and doing 75 + on middle lane if it was 60 i would feel a fool to stay out there, then i would move yes.
Don't be surprised then when a black PFL Elite (or silver R Class) passes you on the inside lane because I refuse to have to move 2 lanes to pass some **** that chooses to sit in the middle lane cos he's no idea how to drive on a motorway! >:(
Be careful pulling that one Andy. Nearly did it once on a late trip along the M56. For some reason changed my mind and did a long indicate to outside lane, put left indicator on as overtook and moved back to inside. Looked in mirror (_o_) stayed there. About 1 min later was drawn to mirror by blue's & two's behind me, I was doing about 80 so bricked myself until I noticed they were pulling over the (_o_), result :y. I think they were tailing me for my speed and then pulled the (_o_) for hogging. :)

People who don't indicate on round-a-bouts really get my goat!! >:( >:( >:(
Also, these newish cars with over bright headlights that dazzle and the chavvy looking daytime running lights..... >:( >:( >:(
I mean why do manufacturers think that if I'm spending say £30-50K on a top of the range brand new motor, then I like it having lights that look like some spotty 17 year old has been down to Halfords.... PAH!!! ::)
It's a new "EU" law. All new vehicles have to have Chav Lights :y
I knew that, but my point was that they don't have to be chavvy LED's!! ;)

... Plus. There should be a secondary test before driving on a motorway. IMO.
I find motorway driving far more relaxing than other roads. All traffic is heading in the same direction.......usually. ::) ::) ::) ;)

People who leave it until the very last second before exiting a motorway or dual carriageway.
On a motorway, drivers get one miles' notice that the exit is coming up, then half a mile, then 300, 200, 100 yards, and still some drivers leave it until the sliproad starts before scooting across two or three lanes to make their exit. Bloody dangerous.
I've also been on motorways in the early hours of the morning, approaching an on slip, a car comes down it, joins the motorway and immediately whizzes straight across all lanes to get to lane three. Why? There was only me on the road and I was a few hundred yards back.
I could go on all day about driving standards. I think they're pretty poor now. An awful lot of drivers just don't seem to relax, they must overtake everything in sight, even if it's dangerous to do so.
I'm looking forward to hanging up my lorry keys. Been driving artics for 36 years now, six to go..........

What about folks that open car doors wide open while your just about to pass like this morning >:( the woman was absolutely oblivious to any danger she was causing >:( never looked and didnt give a toss about the cars swerving around her ::)

It's worked out kinda well for me, i do get some jobs driving 7.5t for people who can't.
Not fr work obviously, that would be illegal ::)

Townies, Grockles and Grannies who drive at 30mph on country A-roads!!! >:( >:( >:(
