The Elite sprung a leak last week whilst sat in the car park at work - only just noticed before jumping in and driving home like I stole it. Got her up on a ramp but we couldn't tell exactly where it was coming from somwhere at the rear of the engine. :(
K-seal seemed to do the job at first but she's still losing somewhere - doesn't seem to be getting into the oil.
Any ideas??? ???

From what I have seen on here before that looks like Heater Bypass Valve - but I ain't no expert ::)
Do a search (HBV) and you will find many a thread on the subject

I love the tone of the guide [http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90574.0] ;D
Looks like it could be that simple... watch this space ???

When you replace the valve, make sure you flush all the k-seal out.It doesnt do the cooling system any good at all if left in there. ;)

I'll try and remember that :y - one step at a time though. I'm not the most proficient with the spanners :-\

Hope you remember to flush out that sealing crap cos it will only do a mischief at some time you least expect. I would never ever use it and never did in near on 40 years in the trade. Done plenty of repairs after it had done its worst though and blocked bits it should not have. :y

A very good friend of mine who Bionic meet a few weeks ago, got some very poor advise from a garage. He was told to buy this bottle of leak stopper of some description to prevent head gasket problems and leaks...... We spent quite sometime to try amd rinse it out of a perfectly sound un leaking BMW X5 :-[

First place to check, HBV at the back of the engine clse to the bulkhead. Sometimes this will leak on lets say whem the heaters are set to hot, but not leak when heaters are set to cold. Or visa versa.
Next the coolant bridge Dowty Washers and Oil Cooler Plate for leaks, check the thermostat whilst in that area too.
What year is your car and what engine?

Thanks for all the advice guys. :y
I'll be able to take a closer look at the weekend. Only a few short trips to do between now and then.
Have to say I wasn't expecting to be using the heaters in mid-June! :o
The other thing is I'm looking to change the old dear for an oil burner in the next few weeks, so the gunk will be someone else's problem. It's probably going to be inherited by the guy who put it in! :P
