Title: Result!
Post by: tunnie on 16 June 2012, 13:56:25
I bought my flat in late 2010, at the start of the year the EU forced paint manufactures to reduce amount of volatile additives in Gloss paints, it resulted in everyone reformulating their paints. (although I did not know this at the time)

The Dulux White Gloss I used, went yellow very quickly! It was a nasty yellowish colour you get if someone is a heavy smoker in the house.

This was a good comparison, the part on the left, was painted just 18 months earlier  :o

I basically wrote a snot-o-gram to ICL paints after seeing the Watchdog program, which went through issues ICL had.

I received vouchers for 1 x 5L Gloss, 1 x 5L Undercoat & 1 x 5L Standard Matt Paint. But as I had already re-done the gloss a few months ago, I did not need any more, I sweet talked the service manager at B&Q to let me get the above but get a credit note to their value.

So I did, oddly, out of the 5L gloss paints (only trade ones cause of the size) varied in price considerably, naturally I picked the most expensive for credit note  ::)

I got £125 credit, shopped for some other DIY stuff I needed as I'm redoing bathroom, left with £40 still in credit  :D

What double standards?  ???

I decorated with defective paint, had to re-do it at my own cost, I complained and got a little more than the value of the paint for my troubles.

How does that compare to watching an illegal stream?  ???

We have both received something to which neither of us have paid for. In fact you openly admit to getting the store to change what you where entitled to.
I have no problem with what you received. Just seems odd that you where happy to make on it, but moan when I do.

Oh yes if you think the streams are shut down that quick then think again. My current one has been going for at least 3 months to my knowledge.
And I should add I am a sky subscriber to the basic package, so I do contribute a bit.

I changed nothing? I got the items I was entitled to, in a voucher, taken to till, but basically got an instant refund for those items as credit? Store kept the original items, I just got the cash value of them?

I honestly don't recall any discussions with you regarding illegal streams?  :-\

Well yes  ::)

Each of these free ones is identified within hours, what takes time is legal elements, 6-9 months usually. Often domain names registered in one country, CDN content in another, site server hosted elsewhere again

IIRC we had this conversation when Pete & I came over to your place, use a water based satin if you want it to stay proper white.

No one is forcing anyone, but with these lame uninformative subject headings there no other option, other than ignoring it.

With these contraventions of forum guidelines, I suspect it's one of two things:

1) The OP really can't be bothered to give any more info.
or
2) The OP assumes every posting they make is of interest to all.

Now, don't get me wrong, the Tunnie's Travel's postings with the pics etc. are excellent :y    .....but things like paint !?!   ::)

Well other people I've mentioned the yellowing to (due to EU rules) have been very interested.

I'm not interested in most of Nickbats EU/Politcal threads, but I don't go complaining on them, if its not of interest, stop reading, why bother posting?

Drat !!  >:(
Just noticed, only three of the four are intentionaly vague. The 'Words fail me' heading was not, and is another you can add to my fails. (Curses !!)

A Subject heading Life is like a box of chocolates, you just don't know what you are going to get. - Forest Gump  :y

I thought that was half the fun of a forum, people making up enticing subject lines, to get a thread read and replied to.  :y

No replies and you get STO's tumble weed cartoon.  :)

There are many different styles of here from eloquence to earthiness from words to subject matter and that is what makes the forum interesting and entertaining place. It reflects a cross-section of society.  :y

Personally, I try and avoid conflict on this and several other forums I contribute to for two reasons, one it is easy to get the wrong end of the stick as you can't always judge what somebody means as you can't see their expression and secondly, ratty forums are hostile places, that put people off joining and contributing. There are several forums I won't contribute on for exactly that reason.

If something doesn't interest me, then I click back to the index, simples.

When it comes to subject matter, it it interests me I read it and if appropriate, I contribute, if it doesn't I don't. When it comes to subject matter I don't much care what people contribute, as long as it is within the forum guides as I appreciate what is one man's meat in another man's poison.

So lets all chill out and cut out what seems to me to be an increasingly regular occurrence, public arguments between two or more contributors to this forum.  >:( >:( >:(

Although this most may have been more appropriate on TB's thread, I just felt I had to give my views while on this thread.

Who's arguing ?  ???

Tho' seeing as you mention 'Forum Guidelines'...and I quote, 'Keep titles relevant, and not just 'Help me' etc.  Not everybody has time to read every thread'
