Still jobless so will have to replace the mig for something cheaper till I manage to find a job :(
Was looking at mondeo mk1
Car has a bit less miles than mig (around 110 000)
Engine is 1.8td, year 1998.
It has nice equipment like aircon, parking sensors, sport seats.
I have never driven a mondeo so have no idea about them.
If anyone owned it I would like to hear about the experience, reliability and the car in general

I had one a 2.0 si 94, it was an excellent car until the cam belt tensioner decided it wanted to fail as it was a plastic one. so got a new engine put in as it was cheaper than having head rebuilt but the new engine only lasted 3 weeks then the hg went so I decided to cut my losses and got rid. apart from that it was a good car. also watch out for wishbone on passenger side as front bolt nightmare to take out with out raising the engine and you can't really put back in other way up as will foul on gearbox fact :)

Had one a few years back, couldn't fault it, 175,000 on the clock, even after floating in the sea (don't ask) started second turn of the key. Only got rid as the parts for mot were worth twice the value of car.

First off its a MK2 so had the old 1.8 Endura lump with Turbo & intercooler. Bit of a noisy lump and its life span is solely dependent on 6,000 mile oil changes and cam belts @ 40K. Not quick off the mark but good torque when rolling. Sub frame bushes need to be checked (easy to change), parts are cheap and the car is generally reliable, frugal @45 odd mpg and comfy as hell. Easily clocked and hides the miles tho so usual checks (will see 200K miles with ease). Comfy ride and decent handling. Bit of a bargain really just like the Omegas.
Only one thing......can't place a model of that year with sports seats so are they definately sports (search ST24 seats on Ebay). If they are as per ST24 then suss the owner out!
Good luck fella, hope it turns good :y :y

i had a 1.8 deseasel, was mk2 on a t plate and went on for 250k till i flogged on, mk one has a narrower cambelt then the mk2 so belt intervals need to be stuck to, bottom wishbones are pain in butt and wear quickly, sub frame needs special lock pins or tyre wear is terrible and you crab down rd, headlight levelers seize so do end up looking at airplanes rather than road, just also check for rust on rear arches and back end of sills, brake lines over tank corrode well, still got a few bits here , timing belt lock pins, subframe lock pins if ever needed to borrow, lots switches relays, leather steering wheel too, cant fit cruise control to the mk1 or 2 diesel variants which is a bummer, the chassis is the same as what the jag s type is built on or was it x type, getting old lol

I had a couple of MK1 Mondeos, a 2.0 SI, and a 2.5 V6 Ghia X, they were both very good cars to be honest, and they do drive nice :y.

or as an alternative, get a Mk3 Cavalier with the 1.7TD Isuzu lump, and run it on neat/filtered waste cooking oil (like we do) :y
I used to work for Ford back in 2001, and my first demo was a 2.0 Mondeo Zetec (last of the Mk2 versions), nice car, handled well, not particularly loaded with toys for the money (at the time). That was followed by a Fiesta Zetec S (stuck to the road like puppy poo to a blanket), and then that was replaced with a Ford Ka - at that point I told them to shove the car and I'd get the bus instead.

Well the seats look like they are ST24 except they are all cloth (no leather on these).
They have upper and lower side support.
Will look at the car day after tomorrow so will know more.
Was looking at one peugeout also (406 2.0 coupe with low mileage) but probably parts would cost an arm and a leg (maybe a kidney also ;D)
