Title: ticking sound on start up

ok have got a slight ticking sound on start up but then it stops after a few seconds sounds a bit like the start of an inlet manifold problem on a mg zt does the omega have an inlet manifold issue or is it something else

I'd say it's wither an exhaust manifold blow (which tend to quieten as it warms up - at first) or a hydraulic tappet that's a little slow to fill. If it does last only a few seconds, it's more likely the latter.

It won't do any harm but might be an indication that the oil has been neglected in the past. A couple of quick oil changes if it's not been done recently and a dose of lifter treatment would do no harm.

prob ex manifold gaskets. Come over to the midlands meet on 1st july, plank and leggit. Will have a look for you.

Exactly what happened to mine...it was indeed the exhaust manifold gasket  :y

Which Plank n leggit missed that lol think its a lifter as some1 said as was told the same by some1 else so will do an oil change asap n see wot happens
