Title: Disciplining kids
Post by: Nickbat on 22 June 2012, 11:10:07
Most people today think it improper to discipline children, so I have tried other methods to control my kids when they have had one of 'those moments.'

Since I'm a pilot, one method that I have found very effective is for me to just take the child for a short flight during which I say nothing and give the child the opportunity to reflect on his or her behavior.

I don't know whether it's the steady vibration from the engines, or just the time away from any distractions such as TV, video games, computer, iPod, etc.

Either way, my kids usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our flight together.  I believe that eye to eye contact during these sessions is an important element in achieving the desired results.

I've included a photo below of one of my sessions with my son, in case you would like to use the technique...

 ;D ;D ;D ;D liked that

normally a good belt will do, didn't do me any harm always scares my kids when I tell them what punishments I had as a kid makes em think twice not that I'd ever belt them.

indeed, and be busy keying the paint, once they've had the wheels off. No need for bricks with a plane mid flight. ;D

Same here ........... usually >:(

That said, it's presently as silent as a monastery hereabouts! :y

A coach-load of chavs benefit-drawing 'disadvantaged' so-called parents/offsprings (plus a 45-gallon barrel of Oranjeboom lager) have just set-off for their annual raid on Butlins. All funded by the good ol' taxpayer. >:(
All Police leave at Minehead has been cancelled ............. apparently :o

A week of peaceful bliss now beckons here. Fingers crossed! ;D

Nope .. capital "W" for Wales .. as a "Proper Noun" for the unique country .... small "w" for welsh as an "adjective" describing the family.... ....

Stick around long enough and we'll teach you English properly (capital "E" as a "Proper Noun" stating the unique language)..   :) :)  :)
