Had a right big shock, Called them (vauxhall dealer) for a price on the CAT section for a 2002 2.2i petrol and got a price of £900+VAT :o
Think i'll get one from CES or similar no way i'm paying £900 :o

Eternal. £70 odd for the 2.2 I believe...?

Like pattern camcover gaskets then :-X

I can understand why a pattern gasket can be rubbish compared to oem, but in what way can a piece of pipe be rubbish?
is it the lifetime of the catalyst itself?
I'm asking because I might need a new cat myself in the next month or so myself

All pattern cats sound awful!

It`s not the piece of pipe that`s shite, it`s the cat/s. They`re noisy to the extent you think you`ve got a leaking exhaust, they sound raspy, the internals last around 12 months, if you`re lucky a little more. Why do you think aftermarkets are dirt cheap compared to originals. At the end of the day you get what you pay for whether GM or not

this is off a V6 but he has a lot of genuine parts and is also a member on here

Yes, sorry, read that a bit quick.
Try Steve in Heathrow, breaks omegas. As the link. Oof get a discount I believe...?
You'd be better off with a second hand genuine cat than an aftermarket one.

The matrix in a CAT contains Platinum, an extremely valuable metal.
One of the ways that pattern CAT manufacturers can keep costs down is by putting an undersized matrix inside a full size housing. It sounds different because it is different and it will probably pass an emissions test because the undersized matrix will get nice and hot during the MOT.
Drive like Miss Daisy and you may never know any different, give it some beans and you will feel the difference immediately :(
