Post by: raywilb on 28 June 2012, 12:28:45
many moons ago one could buy strong school shoes " Tuf shoes " were one make i recall. i have a 9yr old grandaughter & i can literally buy a new pair practically every week. the toes are usually holed or badly scraped by then. can anybody recommend where i,d be able to buy school shoes that are kid proof, trainers are not allowed.  :)

Always founds that Clarks shoes always last ages, bit expensive but they'll outlast all the cheap crap by miles  :y

...as tested by my 6-year-old boy who gives his shoes a good workout every day  ;D

We had this problem for many years.

In the end, we just went to Winsors and bought a pair for about 15 quid and replaced them a couple of times a year.

Yeah always Clarks for me they measured your foot in the wooden block with a sliding scale and a tape measure for width and the machine where you could see your foot in the shoe was brilliant. In fact they showed  an American one on a TV programme only last week and we commented on the subject then  :y

My kids always had Startrite if I remember correctly mind you it was 30 odd years ago ::)

I have to agree, Miss Vamps was a bugger for going through shoes all through primary school, using them to play football and as brakes for the bike / scooter or whatever ::) ::) ::)

Also for several winters used to get her some Doc Martin's and another make that I can't remember, the advantage we had was that she would wear big and bulky, like the boy,s... ::) ::) ::)  Now she is in big school and suddenly gone all girlie she is into girlie flimsy style shoes but at least she does not play football in them..... :D :D :D
