It wanted a program update. Fair enough, let it update, and let it reboot when prompted, whilst I went off to do something else.
Came back 10 mins later, and its installed, without asking, the world's most buggy browser, Google Chrome >:(. Which won't uninstall because there is another installation in progress. Even after rebooting >:(. I don't want my PC infected with Chrome. Grrrr >:(
So, Avast! is going. It had been pissing me off with constant interruptions anyway (despite these being turned off - but it thinks, due to my setup, I wasn't allowed to use freebie one). Good bloody riddance. Well, will be as soon as I can unlock the installer again. rather Chrome >:(
Grrrrrrrrrrr.

I think where I went wrong is after the reboot, I logged on, then left the PC to finish the install unattended. Seems that the option to not install Chrome is at that point, but its timed.

Add/Remove in control panel not working, as it thinks there is another installation ongoing - basically something has locked MSI.
Never fear, this is pretty much my day job, and as its my own PC, I will spend the time to fix, rather than rebuild ;)
Its likely to be MS Security Essentials for me on this PC. I run it on most of my others now...
