After sealing the oil cooler plate, the car has decided to leak in another place. FFS :(
The coolant is running out of the lower heater matrix connection but the pipe up to the HBV is dry. Its running too fast to be evaporating from the pipe as it leaves the HBV I think.
Are there any parts available for this joint (o-rings, seals) which can be replaced?

Sorry to 'bump'. :-[
Any thoughts anyone :)

I haven't had to replace an Omega heater matrix & hope I never need too...........
On my Carlton the two aluminium heater pipes had 'O' rings on the ends and were clamped into the ports in the plastic end tank by a metal plate + nut & washer.
I don't imagine VX bothered to change the design for the Omega.

The maintenance guide Replace the Heater Matrix (Cheat Method) (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90621.0) shows the 'O' rings.

Thanks for replying Andy :y
The coolant is coming from the lower joint in the engine bay though. :-\
-
Sorry, I misunderstood.
When I took the engine out of my previous car I couldn't separate the (alleged) 'quick release' connectors so I disconnected the heater hoses at the other end. Once the engine was out I could stand in the engine bay and did manage to release them. It was a long time ago now though so I cannot be certain but I think the seal is part of the plastic fitting on the end of the rubber hose.
Quickest way to fix it would probably be to buy a new rubber hose :-\

Ah, I see. Its not a straightforward piece of hosing is it. I can see that the top part fits the HBV but where does the lower piece fit? :y
-
Any idea of the part number and cost? :y

90466224 is the bottom heater matrix hose that has 1 connection to the heater bypass valve and the other to the metal coolant transfer pipe that fits to the back of the block.
Cant find the receipt for the 1 bought about 2 years ago but from memory think it was around £20.Will require a fair bit of stripping down to get at the coolant transfer pipe fitting.
-
Just a thought......
Would PTFE tape improve the joint ::)
This will be the third strip down in two weeks ;D
-
For the effort involved in getting bits apart that far I would be inclined to " bite the bullet " and fit a new hose.
Unsure if PTFE would be a good seal especially if its leaking on the quick fit end as its a sliding collar thatneeds to be pushed home then released.

I'd contact Steve at Omega spare parts for a couple of replacement hoses. Or if you can get brand new ones.
You MUST get hoses from a car with cruise control as non cruise cars have different hoses due to there being an additional coolant pump where the cruise module is located. Guess which set I've got as spares :-[
-
Thanks Rob. Steve has one in stock. Will see what they are at Charles Warners. If not much more will buy new :y

I swapped the hose for the shorter one without the additional coolant pump when I did my LPG conversion. The replacement hose wasn't expensive.
I'd take the old hose off, clean up the pipe on the bulkhead with some emery cloth or similar and smear a little vaseline or washing up liquid on it before refitting to ensure the O ring can slide on and seal properly.
-
Tried the Vaseline to no avail.
Decided as I am going to tear the top apart again I don't want to risk part failure so have ordered new from Vx.
Gone for both pipes as the other is bound to fail soon after this strip down. :)

Probably the wisest move really as I am always suspicious about them really sitting back sealed when I have removed them in the past although maybe I have been lucky.
