Title: Tyre Choice
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 02 July 2012, 12:37:32
Started ringing round for tyre prices

Budgetb £48.80 plus Vat

Cheapest Brandd were Dunlop Sport 01 @ £90 plus

Asked about Avons and they came in @ 80+

They are for a 3.0 Elite, want them on the rear, whats any ones thoughts on the Dunlops, I am aware that quite a few members are not fans of the Avons allthough I liked them on my GLS 195/60/15 I think they were.

Open to any ones thoughts.  My car is an Auto and I have grown up a lot and dont power slide the corners any more (not much any way)

T.I.A. :y

Avons were not robust enough for my driving style, and lasted 4k on the rear of the tractor.  The grip level was below par, IMHO, causing a lot of sliding around, which is probably what killed them.

Not used Sport 01, but am a fan of Sport Maxx TT, although I only get about 12k from the rears.

Contis may be more expensive, but offer good dry/wet grip (zero in ice though), and fairly durable.

2 options .. regardless of price issues..

if summer tires preferred : goodyear eagle f1 asym 2 (you cant use them on ice-snow)
if all season preferred     : vredestein quatrac 3 (goodyear vector 4 seasons is 2nd in test)
