tonight we had some walk in the park as usual and some of our cats which we cant close home were after us.. anyway after a while
we turned back home.. sit in the garden and this time one of the cats in the home tried to open the door from inside .. jumped (female) several times on the door and finally open it.. ;D
now the best part, my wife closed her in home again and we stay some more time.. this time when we try to open the door the inner safe lock was in front of it and it blocked the door.. now we are left outside ;D after some struggle with a steel frying pan from the neighbour I managed to open the door..
I must admit its the most clever cat in home :)
-
Our cat is far too daft for that sort of thing.
She does decide to follow us for a walk sometimes. After about 500m she realises that she's come too far and can't remember the way home, so sits down and cries until I show her the way home, let her into the house, and then continue the walk without her. ::)
-
My neighbours used to have a long haired German Shepherd that was like that. Beautiful dog, but utterly stupid. She'd come bounding out of the house, run up and down the road until the attention stopped, and then realise that being 8 houses away from home she was now lost. At which point, she'd sit down and bark until Marcia came out with her lead(wouldn't move without it) and walked her home.

Took cat to vets today , has an infection from a bite to the tail and a chewed ear :( trouble with him is he's far to friendly and walks up to cats thinking they will play but end up chasing and clawing him :( He has a plastic hat on now to stop him licking his tail and he's not amused with it doing sumasaults trying to get it off ;D

Yes we have similar issues. It appears early neutering is key. Done too late and the cats carachter is less plesent, ESP towards other cats. Responsible owners etc etc...
-
We had our tom cat neutered as soon as he was old enough , dont know about the ones around us but the vet said it did look like a cat bite to his tail ...funnily enough there had been 7 cats in the same vets in the morning with similar tail wounds :( He's gone sleep now i think the pain killers and antibiotics have kicked in
:y

Neighbours iranian cat also have infection problem from bite.. an using antibiotics.. we had to squeeze the wound frequently to drain the infection out ??? (veterinary told us)
ours ::) never had the problem as we grow them up like real street cats and defend themselves more than others..
they had military training ;D reason is home crowded with cats so they have to fight for space and food ;D

its something interesting , from humans as far as I know you must not squeeze infection area as it can spread to other areas.. but this time it was necessary ???

Hi cem,
Know what you mean, we are their slaves! Ours always want in, want out, want fed, want out again, want in again, and so it goes on and on and on.
Here's our three.
This one loves coming out with me when I'm washing the car!
This one likes sitting in bird's nests? (Bit of a bird brain)
And this one doesn't like the other two and they don't like him.
-
I like the outdoor sleeping arrangement cem :y Gives me an idea for our little monster who often comes back soaking wet ;D
-
Lovely putputs.
Victor, it's obvious who's boss in your house. What a stern face on him. ;D
-
Here's one of ours. Impossible to photograph her character due to her jet black coat. But here you go anyway.

;D same ours.. there is a continous traffic inside outside.. the only exception is "ape" munise.. she find a way in and out (kitchen window- a bit high) and never needs us to open doors ;D
lovaly cats :) probably last one male :y

One of these days I must scan and upload a pic of our old Ginger Tom. The most fierce arrogant beast to ever prowl the streets & fields of Essex. Attacked (and often killed) any living thing he encountered, used to disappear for weeks and even months at a time, but always reappeared eventually. He would go for a long walk with us,loved to be stroked, but if you picked him up he would give one warning, then have your face off before you could blink.Came supposedly on a temporary basis to kill a few mice and stayed for twenty one years. He was full of character and I still still miss him if Im honest.

We recently had to have one of our cats put down and because we're softies when it comes to animals it's taken a while to decide on getting a kitten,so an easy decision you would think, not if you try the Cats Protection League,it's took 2 weeks for them to respond to numerous Emails/phone calls, then a weeks wait for a home visit and a weeks wait for a letter telling us that it will be 3 months plus before a kitten may be available for homing. At one time some one would know somebody who would be looking to give away unwanted kittens but now days it seems you have to jump through the hoops that the charities throw down just to get a cat.We had to endure an hour long lecture of "teaching your grandmother to suck eggs" in the ways of owning a cat,(we have owned up to five at a time and the oldest lived to be 22) so we do know how to care for them, including the best brands of food and proper vetinary care and of course the best and most comfortable chairs/beds in the house. In all honesty we're getting to the point where we're going to give up with these organisations because it's going to cost £70 for a kitten from CPL which we certainly dont have a problem with but what is bugging us is the red tape element of the whole affair >:(

:o ??? from beginning to end I read with an open mouth .. here everywhere is full of cats and every spring and summer lots of kittens born and die.. :( we try to save as much we can (mostly borned in our gardens or close distances)
and if you were here you could have many ;D :y
-
Many thanks Cem,it's a pity that we have strict quarantine laws because it would be easier to get a cheap flight to Turkey and bring back a kitten than be messed around by a bunch of well meaning do gooders here. Also I have just had to register online with another animal charity who you may not have heard of in your country, they are called Battersea dogs home, they also rehome cats and they say they will contact me within 7 working days to.....guess what? yes,to arrange a home visit. In all honesty I think I'll probably die of old age before we get another cat the way they do things in this country :o
-
Try this bloke.
http://www.shinfieldvets.co.uk/
Just taken over the practice and is way more positive than the previous owners. He mentioned, while treating ours from a bite from an un neutered cat >:( that he has kittens a plenty. "if you want kittens get in touch" he said.
No further experience personally, but that's what the man said. He is a good vet though, in our experience.
-
Although, in all honesty, if your not prepared to jump through the hoops to prove your a responsible owner, maybe it's not for you. :-\
-
We've done the jumping bit,big time!! and nothing!! can't do more than that.
-
we are swimming in cats and you cant find there.. ;D
thats quite surprising for me.. I think a big ship full of cats and a night visit to UK will solve your problems forever ;D
-
thing is cem years ago the RSPCA and the like had a big drive on neutering and now people have got the message kitterns are sold at a premium usually £ 70-100 for a non pedigree...i rember the days when kitterns were given away... :y
-
Thanks Cem :y we're actually thinking about quitting the UK,possibly Spain or Cyprus, plenty of cats needing a good home there :y
-
Neutering is the important point, as said. It controls the population and keeps the temperament manageable. Obviously. There loads of cats living locally. The only ones we have trouble with are the un neutered ones with arse-hole owners that think their cat is the toughest on the block, while everyone else visits the vet to heal their cats wounds as a result.
As usual, it's not the cats but the owners here.
-
Had mine neutered as a young kitten.Dread to think how aggressive he would have been with his tackle in full working order. ;D
-
We have a 6yrs old neutered tom,he'd be a perfect farm cat as he has just started finding rats to kill, not a clue where he's getting them, although we're only a few hundred yards from open country side and I just wish he'd leave them where he's finding them instead of leaving them under the kitchen table ::) He's been torn up a couple of times, not by a male cat but by a speyed female,he's a bit of a woose, runs a mile to avoid a fight. :-\

we had a male soldier which was lost last year.. unneutered.. every time come back home covered with blood.. but he didnt care.. one night I followed him.. was covering long distances and fighting all males for region.. lived 6 years only.. :(
females.. no way all of them neutered.. otherwise I would have thousands of cats as they increase in geometrical series.. ;D
