I did his 4 pot belt... We never got around to the v6 one tho.

Deeply saddened to hear he is no longer with us. I had no idea.

Yikes... surprised that it hadn't slipped! :o

Interesting reading this now actually... as we were going to replace his belt at the first York meet... however, for those that remember, I had my V6 all stripped down ready for the new belt - and for some reason, we couldn't get it to tension correctly with my new kit.

Bill came to the rescue and decided to put off doing his belt - and gave me his kit there and then! (I paid for it with paypal after the meet IIRC). He was then going to order another kit, and a few of us OOFers were going to go and do his at his house - however due to Bills health, it didn't happen.   :'( :'( :'(

Sooooo pleased that no damage was done on this engine if im honest, because if it went bang, I guess you could kindda say it was sort of my fault almost in a way!  :-X

Just checked my PM's. I kept the last PM from his account - which was from his wife informing me of his death, which was Weds Nov 18 2009.  :( :'(

I know his belt was over due then. So unless its done LOADS of miles since 2009, I guess it still on the WAY WAYYYYY over due belt!  :o

the interesting question is why have 3/4 of the teeth worn off the belt?  what has managed to give up in the last 20k miles that has caused that????

I did Bill's cambelt & tensioner, water pump etc at his house. He phoned me a few weeks later asking me if I was interested in buying it as he wanted to sell it, so his Mrs had some extra money in her pocket when he had gone. To be fair Bill was a lovely bloke but when I was doing his car I was ready to cry with what he was telling me and was happy to get away. So did not fancy feeling that way again, so said I didn't want the car as I had one at the time. That may sound terrible but upsettingly true..
I know not long after he sold his car to John. Didn't seem long after his wife let us all know of his passing.

Going by those pictures it like like something has caught the belt..

ahh yes Daz i remember Bill saying now.
tbh it does look like something has been caught in there, all the tensioners are ok & it was still timed spot on.
The car is now being sent to the yard in the sky, so maybe Bill can be reunited with her. bless him. :)
