The auto gearbox is slow to change up and is jerking into gear when it does change up at approx 3000rpm also my accelerator pedal seems to go so far and then click(like its sticking??) and then go a bit further down... I`ve checked the throttle cable at the fuel pump and its free and easy moving and the gearbox oil is clean and clear and does`nt smell burnt...Now this probs only occured since coming home from work yesterday...Any ideas guys?? The haynes manual is a bit hit and miss and the T.I.S. manual i was supplied with is for the disco 2 and td5 engines mines a 300tdi.... Any advice or help would appreciated as the landy forum i`ve posted on is really slow and patranising as i`m concerned with how some members reply to novices on there..... :o

Some auto's have a kickdown 'switch' built into the accelerator so as when you floor it the box drops down a gear or two, could be just normal operation?
I'm no expert but I'd start by checking for leaking boost from the turbo...

That's the forum I've posed the question on daz... 25 views and not 1 reply.... I'm worried about the Landy now as well because the jerking between gear changes is getting worse and I'm starting think gearbox or transfer box.... :'(

300 Tdi has the best part of ten horsepower to start with, so losing a couple is a big disaster.
certainly I'd go looking for engine power loss, but also have a good look at the kick-down cable. You can find the point in the cable where kickdown occurs and set this to where you want it in the throttle movement. Work back from there to acceptable gearchange manners.

Ahh I see... That makes sense woody I noticed the cable housing was not in proper so I clicked it back in.. So I'll look at that and adjust it if possible... Thanx for that bit of advice mate....

Sounds like kick down cable could need adjustment, I'd change the oil and filter on the box as well unless it's got history of being done recently

Have you checked the g/box oil level with the engine running.
Ive not seen many 300tdi auto's as there a bag oh crap the autobox draws so much power away from the wheels it would go better with a pair of donkeys attached to the front bumper or you can break the seal on the fuel adjuster screw and turn it 1/2 turn clockwise this allows more fuel= more=oomf=worse mpg. ;)
If you can source a scrap disco with a manual box i'd convert it to manual.
The td5 engine is much better with a autobox :y

Happy days it's running fine now I've adjusted the kick down cable back to where it should be so it's gone from 60mph max on the motorway to 90+mph this morning... So thanx guys you stopped me from pulling my hair out and doing swmbo's head in.... It's nice it gets up to 90mph now but I bought it to stop speeding and enjoy owning a Landy as I've always wanted 1 and I know the td5 is far superior in handling and refinement but it's what I could afford and it was the best Landy out there I found in the timescale I had.... Next job on tues day off is to do the top doughnut bushes on top of the front shocks... God I love getting my hands dirty again!!! :y :D ;D

Get the yellow poly bush kit from paddocks costs £56+vat and you get every bush :y
