Title: Fans fail
Post by: Lampynoiseboy on 13 July 2012, 19:32:41
My blowers are dead. No matter if i hit aircon or windscreen demist, it all lights up but no blow.

Fuses all ok, and managed to get my hand in the fan behind the glovebox, rotates freely

Before i take the glovebox out to check for power at the fan, anyone got any tips?

Cheers

Has the scuttle drain been blocked recently?  If so, go straight for the speed controller (hedgehog)

Base models do. Elite has an electronic speed controller.

Both look like a hedgehog that has discovered hair gel  ;D

Pull the connector off the speed controller module and you`ll see some small connectors in the multi plug and two large ones. The large ones are the + supply and the output to the fan. Join the two large ones together to bypass the controller and should get full motor speed.  If the blower motor then works, it`s the controller that`s donald

All facelifts have speed controllers, rather than resistors ;)

Under the glovebox, clipped in by the right hand side (looking at it from seat) of blower motor
