Title: EU MOT frequency
Post by: Varche on 14 July 2012, 12:58:55
Are there any changes proposed to the UK system in terms of frequency?

It has been announced that Spain is to adopt "the" EU standard and have MOT's for cars each year. Currently from new you only have an MOT every two years until ten years when it is every year. I can see why it needs to change. Most Spaniards used to do low mileage on empty roads. Little distance commuting to work and all family live nearby. Times are changing..

I haven't seen any mention of vans changing to yearly. Here they are currently done every six months due to the stellar miles they do.

There was talk a while ago about reducing the MOT period to every 2 years.  I think it's been quietly dropped!  :-\
