Title: what's involved in CID retro fit?
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 14 July 2012, 22:54:13
Please excuse my ignorance, I will take engines apart and put them together all day long, but I neither know nor care what goes on behind the entertainment system ;D

So I am after some advice.

I want to fit a colour CID into my 3.2 MV6 which currently has a standard MID and CCR2006.

I have a donor car for the job - a 2000 W 3.0 Elite, with the full colour system, BOSE, satnav, etc.

I'm aware that I will obviously have to change the MID for the CID - and I can do that easily enough.

I also know that I will have to put the NCDC2013 in, to replace my CCR2006.

What else?

I'm guessing GPS antenna, what about wiring for this? Any other wiring to worry about? Is the plug for the rear of MID different to CID? Is there any additional loom to take from donor?

I'd much appreciate any advice :)

Lastly, my LCD screen is knackered on the Donor CID. I've found a replacement from Hong Kong, brand new for around £120. So I'm going to go for that.

Given that I'm changing just the LCD screen, and not the actual main CID unit - will I need any of the depairing / repairing rubbish to worry about?

Many thanks!!!

James

Satnav seemed to work, so I guess it does!

Some minor rewiring needed. All easy enough TBH.

Satnav antenna - I use a £5 special from the Gay or E, plonked by the tax disc.

If your not putting all the Bose stuff in, amp, speakers, loom etc, then your need to get the NCDC de Bose'd for it to work in a standard MV6 set up.

Gota have Bose.

Not necessarily... The MV6 I got my NCDC2015/CID/Telematics from didn't have Bose.  I had to get TB to turn enable Bose on it after I'd fitted it.  :y
