Not fantastic if I'm honest, 28mpg average at say 133.9 fuel, would mean 21.42 pence per mile.
Which is what I get now, from the 2.2, my record was 10.5 pence a mile :o (at 69.9p litre)

Once again, you are completely missing the point, trying to justify to yourself your own views ;)
If you do the calcs on the petrol usage of TBE (the top few were purely petrol, no LPG), you will see its about 27p per mile ;)
Additionally, remember, I don't have the luxury of cheap LPG. Brackley BP is the cheapest for 20 miles ;)

Suggests an average of 22mpg on petrol?
I also don't have cheap LPG any more, as I rarely go past Asda at High Wycombe. :(

57807 184 28.26 1.299 36.71 29.5995
According to your figures you nearly cracked 30mpg, remember I was slated for claiming that from a 3.2 ::)
Thats 19p a mile, so 4p a mile saving :(
-
There's also a huge difference in a 4 pot V V6 on LPG and the way you drive v the way Jamie drives ... the less fuel you use the smaller the advantage of LPG ... :)

Again, plucking figures to convince yourself. How do you think I managed nearly 30mpg? By driving like you (due to the old dears in that back, coming back from Cardiff at 70mph), and notice it was a short fill - trying to see what MPG I could get ;). I'd expect to easily break 23mpg (easily) on gas doing that, so 69p*4.5/23m = 13.5p per mile being miss daisy, and at Asda fuel prices...
You need to compare like with like, rather that trying to convince yourself that you are saving by using petrol ;)

I'd say thats about what I was getting from TBE.

Fwiw seeing between 21 and 24 mpg from mine, doing mostly town/local work :-\ only manage to get north of 26/27 on a motorway cruise at the limit, not often enough to have much impact on the overall average. :'(
Coverting to lpg would mean paying less for the fuel in the first place, but would in no way mean buying less of it...

You are clearly not trying hard enough, Mr Al ;D
Given your figures for petrol are not dissimilar to TBE's (no surprise), you can see from my figures how mpg would drop, as would fuel costs
-
Just my quick input ... last 3 fills, which include the motorway run to the lakes and back ..
Total LPG (ltrs) 118.66
Total LPG (£) £83.09
Total Miles 583
Now that works out at 14.25 pence/mile.
As I was running on gas I don't know what MPG petrol I would have got, but at the average price of 126.9 p/litre (£5:76 / gall) I would have had to have achieved 40.43 mpg to get the same economy .. and to get that from a well laden 3.2 is just dreaming...
At 30 mpg the saving would be 4.95 p/mile
at 25 mpg the saving would be 8.79 p/mile
at the 23mpg the computer "thinks" I was getting on petrol the saving was 10.79 p/mile
:)

I drive like miss Daisy and cant get anywhere near those figures in my 2.5. I did wonder if it needs setting up,but LD had a good gander at it not that long before I bought it and he was happy enough with how it was setup iirc. :-\

Yours is not perfect by any stretch... Perhaps I should have another look at it soon :-\

Would be much appreciated if you could Paul. Although it has suspected dispack trouble at the moment.I will be investigating that asap, but Im very short of time just at the moment, but hopefully things will calm down in a week or so. :y

No point in doing anything until that's sorted then ;)

Tunnie seems to be unable to grasp that the only way to make a true comparison is to only change one variable, the fuel type ::)
No matter how many of us tell him that we have done the comparison and calculations, all of us coming to the same conclusions, he seems to be determined to slate LPG now because it's not really viable for him >:(
Bored with having the discussion about him with it now... Many of us have confirmed that the saving is around 10p per mile with proven, viable comparisons instead of plucking random figures from the air ::)

That's another reason why the 3 of us need to get together then! :-X

Oi you,theres a bloody queue you know. :P ;D

My personal worst orange light to orange light is 82 miles from £30 :-X
By Mr Es maths I could save £120 ish per week 8)
-
Lazydocker - I know there is no malice in your Tunnie bashing comment, but it did come over slightly aggressive to a layman :-\
-
Although I know tunnie knows you well enough not to take any offence :). Besides, tunnie bashing is my job!

Did I just enter the Blue Oyster Bar by accident? Is TB grooming the useless student now or is he just having an off day?

£30 of fuel is 5.208 galls ....
82 miles from 5.208 is 15.74 mpg !!
On average LPG consumption is 20% less than petrol consumption so about 12.5 mpg on gas
82 miles would use 6.56 galls LPG
LPG is about 70p a litre or £3:18 a gall
your 82 miles would have cost you £20.86 on LPG .. a saving of £10 or 30odd%... :)
put another way .. on petrol it was 82 miles for £30 or 36.65 p/mile
on LPG 82 miles for £20 .. or 24.39 p/mile ....
Oh look .. just about 10 p/mile (in your case 12) savings .... just about what we reckon .... :)
-
MID hovers around 23 mpg, but get through approx £300 a week ::) so a 30% saving is not to be taken lightly :y

In that case I apologise to anyone who read it that way... It wasn't my intention :-[ :-[
But, as you say, he knows me well enough to read it as I intended :y

Over 42000 miles and 4 1/4 years of LPG running, including all sorts of driving, towing the tin-tent, many changes to petrol/lpg costs, and buying fuel in France, I'm averaging a saving of 38.21% ... as you say ... not to be sneezed at :)

Don't worry Paul, it's not imminent. I don't have time to crack a fart at the moment either. ::)
Just something that Albs has been banging on about, and I think he's finally getting through to me. ;)

Me thinks TB has a leaden right boot!! ::)
I get attacks of epilepsy if I have to run on petrol for any length of time.... :o :'(

;D yes it does have deeply negative phsycholoical effects ;D
Passers by have asked me if I'm ok, whilst filling up with petrol... tears rolling down my face and gradually falling to my knees. :(
Not anymore. :)

I find it's easier just to buy a jerry can every so often "for the lawn mower" and chuck a little in the Omega when I'm not paying attention. ;)

I'm the opposite - I fill the MV6, then nick petrol out of it for the lawnmower... ...any occasionally the bike ::)

But you're notoriously bad at "forgetting" to fill up so it's just as well you have a full petrol tank ::)
