Battery flat this morning. Jump started this afternoon. Driven for about 10 miiles. Tried to turn it off (keys out ), the engine kept running. So I stalled it took the keys out and the warning lights stayed on. I have disconnected the battery.
Is it likely to be: alarm sounder, alternator or a short somewhere else.
Any ideas. ( 1997 2.5 petrol cd.)
Thanks in advance.

Faulty ignition switch?
-
back from long holiday. the alarm sounder connection was melted!
Does not replacing the sounder invalidate insurance?

not sure on the isurance bit
but you really need to get it out the car asap as they set fire to them selves. i have removed mine and so has most OOF members I believe. there is a thread on it somewhere if you type it power sounder in to the search engine you should see all the past threads regarding this

Sounders are around £65 IIRC. If you do refit a brand new (dont use 2nd hand), schedule to replace it at least every 3-4 years.

And consider an inline fuse - as Vauxhall, the stupid retards, didn't. Hence the frequent fires.

Took it out straight away. Car started this morning, so no flat battery issue. As it was original I got a good run. If I do replace it, what rating of fuse do you reccommend?

I'll leave that to someone who was examined the charging circuit...
