Charging full pelt through London in an old V8 Range Rover, sounds quite appealing?
At least none of that health and safety rubbish got in his way, and if it had...he'd probably have run it down ;D

Personally, there is at least one traffic island that I would have driven over rather than went the (long) wrong way round.
But thats just me...... ;D
-
fantastic Josh. Ok - silly question ??? why the different sirens and why switch between the two ?
-
Proper driving ;D
-
Dam ford granada stops the action ::) ;D

Short strokes means close action, long strokes on the approach...
-
That was a bit frightening for Uncle Denny.
-
Thats how I drive anyway, whats the big fuss ? Only joking of course.
As an aside, It was interesting to see people move into a bus lane to allow them to pass, how would you stand these days with cameras picking you up for such an offence ?
-
That's some quite good driving there :y.

Yes, a fair point indeed Manta and with the coming 'event', any encroachment into the hallowed 'Zil' lanes.
On that particular style of driving - I don't think it would be sanctioned today and, should any crew take the chance of committing their efforts to video in this way, I would suspect that they would be 'spoken to' about it..

Brings back memories of my time with the London Ambulance Service 1979-1989 served at HQ Waterloo & Bloomsbury ,the black cab drivers were excellent at reading the road & creating gaps to enable us to get the old Bedford CF'S through. Best drive I ever had was a premature baby run with a police escort 45 miles in 36 minutes equates to an average speed of 75 mph , our training was excellent used a range of vehicles including Vauxhall vx 4/90 for night drives, high speed drives & skid pan , great times & a great bunch of guys in the service back then.

That was a bit of a trip down memory lane,I must have crossed tilbo's path a few times and he mine 1974-1988 Waterloo HQ and Smithfield, been all the way up Park Lane on the wrong side of the road...at night yeehah :D ;D

thats why i always wanted to be a fireman - nothing to do with fires, just ripping the arse out of traffic at speed!
-
I passed all the tests to get into the London Fire Brigade and then suddenly decided I did'nt like heights and ladders....still dont,so bailed out and went into the ambulance service instead ::)

I must admit that I have a great admiration for the drivers of fire engines, they are hardly nimble and getting through city traffic must be a nightmare, particularly the SIMON Snorkels....... :y :y :y

Yes I see the two you mean. The first one I thought he was going to, until the last second. Not sure where he expected the Granada to go btw.

Seems to be a lot of "you will see me, you will see me" rather than "you have seen me", haha. Can't imagine they're particularly easy to drive, mind...

I'm actually impressed by the number of cars who did see him. Almost like they used to use their mirrors back in the day.. There are black cab drivers being courteous too. I wonder what that video would look like with today's drivers?

Spot on there Klepto - that expectation has done for many drivers when they get carried away and take things to the extreme.
I was taught that there was no point in creating any situation that would result in injuries to any person - especially when you were trying to prevent injury or limit the extent of injuries to those people you were on your way to help.
Many of us got this from the start and accepted that there were severe limitations on the capacity for other road users to recognise a change in road conditions and realise that another vehicle with lights flashing and gong sounding - as my old Roadcraft manual used to state - was trying to clear the obstruction they were causing by their simply being on the road at that given time.
The vast majority of my driving was done in unmarked vehicles – mostly armoured up in the latter years – and to try and make progress through the inner urban environment by using those means of transport puts an entirely different complexion on the notion that you can simply blast your way through traffic without exposing yourself (and crew) to unintended consequences.
It was a pain in the arse and any sensible driver hated having to do it when the need arose.

Very impressive driving,I enjoyed watching that... :y

Better to arrive late, than not at all - or causing another incident on the way...

Nice find there Josh, and some great driving skills.
One of my old favourites is the Liver Run, Harlow M11 Roundabout in Essex to West London with a Liver in the back seat, Two V8 Rovers (one a standby) in the 80's before all the modern high tech available now.
Goes on a bit about 20 mins but well worth the watch.

With good reason, seeing as one of the bikes goes pop halfway through... cracking driving skills and brilliantly co-ordinated.
-
I was pretty confident of the size of my RR but that even had me breathing in! :o :o
Awesome driving :y
-
...bar the contravening one way. Looks like a bikers ride out in the good/bad old days. :(

I remember that being shown by the Met Police at an IAM meeting in Harlow? when I lived down that way, in 1991 awesome driving and a Police Biker giving up riding such was the stress of the drive; I seem to remember us all being quite stunned by the film....... :y :y
