Title: Follow Up From "My Niece, We Have done our bit for HMG.

My dad also did his bit fighting through France, Belgium and Germany in the second world war where he ended up in hospital for a spell in Brussels. Having got out of hospital he fought through until reaching Germany where he was when the war ended. Bloody heroes all of them.

Me?
Having been in NI through 1976-77, I thought things could not get any worse!
I ended up in Tehran during the revolution in 1979 which was a bit scary to say the least. Lovely country though, pity about the locals. We managed to get out on one of the last flights to Kuwait. One of my colleagues was one of the American hostages taken from the AE.

Next up!, Falklands, if anybody on this forum has read my previous posts, I will not go any further.

Next up! Sudan, 16 mortars came in at 05.30 whilst I was having a kip. Slight hole in in the back of my hand was the result of that. I still have the pieces of mortar lying around here, AND to cap it all when we were on the back of a tank to take us to safety?? I contracted malaria. (Eh! not from the tank!)
