Title: MOT question

Hello peeps, does anyone out there know if an MOT advisory is stored on the DVLA database and then flagged up the next time you take the car in for an MOT?

Yep - I am pretty sure that it is - you can check on the status on any car that you have a 'legitimate interest in' by going to the VOSA website - you need the Reg No and the test number from the MOT Cert.

It's not just the next time you take it for MoT you need to worry about.

If you have an accident and there was an advisory on a component that may have contributed to it, the insurance companies will use it to screw you.

I had one on drop links. Had it looked at by Vx, they couldn't find anything wrong (and neither could I) so got a report from them for the files. If anything did happen I could prove that I'd had a "competent" person look at it. Whatever we may think about Vx dealerships, I'm sure that you would have trouble claiming that they weren't competent legally.

For the same reason, I would keep any receipts for components changed due to an MoT advisory also.
