Title: Unused Olympic seats
Post by: Nickbat on 28 July 2012, 23:10:17
First thing I noticed this morning, watching the swimming, was the large number of empty seats.

Seems I was not alone in feeling a tad disgusted.

Not surprising. Probably given as kick-backs to people who didn't want them anyway, or who received a bit too much hospitality after the opening ceremony. ::)

Shame, considering what a small percentage of the public got what they wanted. :(

Just like all the empty seats at Wembley right opposite the cameras, corporate extravagance. >:(

We used to do hospitality at serveral sporting events Ascot, Wimbledon, Silverstone but the only customers I would invite were those with a genuine interest in the sport. The number who would turn up just to gorge themselves and get bladdered for free and sit in the hospitality tent or worse just not bother to turn up at all was a PITA. >:( >:(

"Olympics venues are "stuffed to the gunnels" with sports fans, London 2012 chairman Lord Coe has insisted amid a row over empty seats."

I dont know if its true,but someone said on Essex radio this morning that corporate sponshorship only contributes 2% of the total budget.If thats true they would be better off without it imo.
Having said that,proctor & Gamble have given away 95% of their tickets to the people who have bought their products (and bothered to read the label) in the last couple of months.

what annoys me is they are saying they will resell empty seats,i think they should let them go for free as they have already got the money.

The counrty is skint
I'ts easier to sit at home and watch it on the tv with a few beers then treck into London, stand in a queue for ages, pay stupid money for your seat and any refreshments (£8:50 for a bacon sarnie)   :(

The peoples games eh  ::) >:( >:(
